Job Description
Rug Sales Specialist & Design Consultant
Company: Rouzati Rugs
Location: Evanston, IL (On-Site)
Job Type: Full-Time
Rouzati Rugs, a premier second-generation family-owned rug gallery, is seeking a highly driven Sales Specialist & Design Consultant for our Evanston showroom. Serving the affluent North Shore and greater Chicago area, we specialize in high-end antique, vintage, transitional, and modern hand-knotted rugs.
We are not looking for a passive cashier. We are looking for a consultative closer who understands how to guide high-net-worth homeowners and trade professionals (interior designers, architects) through a premium, high-ticket purchasing process. You will be selling from a curated inventory of over 5,000 unique pieces.
Compensation Structure We offer a highly competitive, uncapped earning model designed for hungry sales professionals.
- Guaranteed Base: $19.00 / hour
- Progressive Monthly Commission:
- 2.5% on sales up to $40,000
- 3.0% on sales from $40,001 to $80,000
- 4.0% on sales from $80,001 to $120,000
- 5.0% on sales exceeding $120,000
- Expected First-Year OTE: $58,000 – $85,000+
- Benefits: 1 Week PTO
What You Will Do
- Act as the primary consultative partner for walk-in clients and trade accounts, identifying their aesthetic needs, spatial constraints, and budget.
- Manage the full sales pipeline from initial showroom consultation to final home delivery and installation coordination.
- Master advanced communication and negotiation frameworks to comfortably close high-ticket luxury sales.
- Develop deep, specialized product knowledge regarding rug provenance, weaving techniques, fiber composition, and historical designs.
- Physically assist in moving, flipping, and presenting large, heavy area rugs on the showroom floor to create high-impact presentations for clients.
Who We Are Looking For
- 1–3+ years of proven experience in luxury retail, high-ticket sales, or interior design showroom sales (e.g., premium furniture, luxury automotive, high-end textiles).
- A strong aesthetic eye and a genuine interest in interior design and home furnishings.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to confidently build rapport and handle objections from discerning clients.
- Highly organized and self-motivated, capable of independently following up with leads and managing long-term client projects.
- Standard retail schedule availability, including weekends.
- Ability to comfortably handle the physical demands of presenting heavy rugs.
To Apply: Please submit your resume along with a brief message outlining a recent high-ticket sale you successfully closed.
