Job Title: Medical Coder/Senior Medical Coder

Specialization: Neurology

Job Summary: A Neurology Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records related to neurological disorders and procedures and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for billing, reimbursement, and compliance purposes. The coder ensures that all coding is completed according to healthcare regulations, payer guidelines, and industry standards

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of neurological diseases and procedures.
• Excellent analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to interpret physician documentation and code accurately in both ICDs and CPTs.
• Effective communication skills for provider queries.
• Understanding of healthcare compliance and reimbursement methodologies.
• Proficiency in coding software and MS Office applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze neurology patient records, physician notes, operative reports, diagnostic reports and code accurately as per the documentation.
• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes , CPT procedure codes , and HCPCS codes, modifiers, and units .
• Should be aware of LCD, MUE, and all the conventions of CPTs and ICDs.
• Should be aware of neurology-specific procedures
• Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards.
• Participate in coding audits and quality reviews.
• Stay updated on coding guideline changes and neurology-related reimbursement policies.
