CNC/Manual Machinist Key Details

  • Compensation: $22.50–$25.00/hour

  • Role Overview

    We are seeking a CNC/Manual Machinist to support machining, grinding, and runout corrections for large rotors, gas components, and other parts requiring tight tolerances. The role will support rotor shop and machine shop operations while operating and programming CNC and manual machining equipment.

    Responsibilities
    • Support safety culture and maintain a safe-to-start mindset.
    • Align large rotors, gas components, and parts within tight tolerances for machining, grinding, and runout corrections.
    • Program CNC lathes, VTLs, and milling machines.
    • Read and interpret OEM drawings, REIs, Work Instructions, and Digital Routers.
    • Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Apply basic algebra and geometry.
    • Calculate and set machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, and angle of cut.
    • Enter, retrieve, and edit computerized machine control commands.
    • Start and observe machine operations to identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
    • Adjust machine controls as required.
    • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials.
    • Perform machining, grinding, and burnishing operations.
    • Support Rotor Shop and Machine Shop operations based on customer needs.
    • Work with steam rotors, gas rotors, cases, gas components, aero components, and valve rack repairs.
    • Operate both CNC and manual machines.
    Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • 3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Advanced or expert skill level with CNC mills, CNC lathes, NC machines, manual mills, manual lathes, and manual VTLs.
    • Ability to indicate parts and perform OD and ID turning.
    • Experience with grinding and burnishing.
    • Ability to determine feed rates.
    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions.
    • Working knowledge of GD&T.
    • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
    • Ability to operate manual and CNC machines.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience with gas turbine repair.
    • Experience with HSPT, GE10s, FR3, FR5, FR6, and F7 gas turbine rotors and components.
    • Experience with rotor and component machining.
