A Brief Overview Performs routine work involving a variety of tasks in assisting the professional dental staff. Located: Downtown Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am -4:30 pm Responsibilities Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a CODA-accredited dental assisting program, provided that it included appropriate training in the expanded function –OR- Successful completion of a Florida Board-approved expanded duties training program. None. Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider Certification. If assigned to OHPG – Craniofacial Specialty, must maintain current State of Florida Dental Radiographer license. Qualifications What you will do Circulates during oral and maxillofacial operations or restorative procedures and hands instruments and supplies to surgeons as needed. Assists in changing intra-oral and extra-oral dressings. Sets up sterile instrument trays for operations and ensures that standard trays are ready for emergencies. Sterilizes and gives routine care to clinical instruments, linens and auxiliary supplies, including spray valves, compressed air apparatus, syringes, fountain cuspidors and suction equipment. Maintains a functional inventory of supplies. Performs dental x-rays. Performs duties according to established clinic rules and regulations based upon standards of the dental profession. Document services provided. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and have the ability to assess data appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patients on his or her assigned department and/or unit. Monitors vital signs as needed.
