Controller - Manufacturing

Job DescriptionJohnson Service Group, has an immediate opportunity for a Controller for a biotech manufacturing company in Carlsbad.
Direct Hire | Onsite | $180 - $200K depending on qualifications.
We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting for a growing life sciences manufacturing organization. Reporting to the CFO, this position will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while partnering closely with leadership and Operations on financial planning, manufacturing costs, profitability, and business decisions.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone with strong technical accounting experience who is comfortable working in a growing, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reportingOversee general ledger, payroll, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognitionMaintain and optimize NetSuite, including accounting processes, reporting, workflows, and controlsSupport budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysisPartner with Operations on manufacturing costs, pricing, customer profitability, and capital expendituresDevelop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsCoordinate external audits, tax filings, and financial compliance requirementsProvide financial reporting and analysis to the CFO, leadership team, and investorsLead and develop a small accounting and finance teamIdentify opportunities to improve processes, systems, reporting, and financial controls
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field5–10+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrevious Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager experienceStrong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting, and internal controlsManufacturing accounting experience strongly preferredBiopharma, life sciences, CDMO, or other regulated manufacturing experience preferredHands-on NetSuite experience highly preferredStrong Microsoft Office skillsExcellent analytical, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to work independently, manage competing priorities, and partner effectively with senior leadership
