Job Description

About Amber Amber is the world's largest student accommodation marketplace, think Booking.com for student housing. We help students find and book long-term accommodation near their universities without the usual mess of negotiation, non-standard paperwork and broken payments. Today, we list 1M beds across 800 universities, 250 cities and 10 countries, and we are on track for $1B in annual gross bookings value by 2026. Amber is backed by marquee investors like Gaja Capital. About the Role This is a CFO-scope mandate, titled VP Finance. You will own finance end to end: the numbers we run the business on, the story we tell, and the controls and structures that hold a multi-country operation together. You will work directly with the founders and the leadership team. Strategic Finance and FP&A Own the annual operating plan, the long-range model and the monthly forecast, and hold the business accountable to them. Build the unit economics view of the business: contribution margin by market, channel and supply type, cohort behaviour, payback and LTV/CAC. Partner with Growth, Supply and Product on pricing, commission structures and market entry decisions, with the financial case behind each one. Run capital allocation: where we spend, what we stop, and what returns we hold each function to. Run any potential M&A transactions. Fundraising and Investor Relations Run the fundraise round end to end: model, narrative, data room, diligence and support on term sheet negotiation. Own the board pack, the quarterly investor update and the relationship with existing investors between rounds. Build and maintain the debt and working capital options that suit the business, and manage banking relationships. Controllership, Tax and Global Structuring Own accounting, monthly close, statutory reporting and the internal control environment across all entities. Manage a multi-entity, multi-currency structure: transfer pricing, cross-border flows, FEMA and RBI compliance, and international tax exposure across our operating markets. Own direct and indirect tax compliance, assessments and litigation in India and overseas jurisdictions. Run treasury: cash flow, FX exposure, payment rails across markets, and the controls around all of it. Coordinate statutory and internal audits, and hold clean, timely closes as a standard rather than an achievement. Team and Systems Lead the finance team, which is already in place. Whenever required, hire and develop the finance team across FP&A, controllership and accounts. What We Are Looking For CA with 10 years of experience, including at least 4 years leading a finance team. Experience in a high-growth environment. Strong command of corporate finance and investor relations, with real exposure to fundraising and diligence. Depth in direct and indirect tax compliance, and comfort with multi-entity and multi-currency operations. Analytical strength: you build the model yourself and can defend every assumption in it. Clear communication with founders, board members, investors and auditors. Good to Have Experience taking a company through a Series B or later round. Exposure to international entity setup, transfer pricing or overseas tax structuring. Experience building or replacing a finance system stack during a period of fast growth. What You Get at Amber Fast-paced growth, with the room to skip intermediate levels. Full ownership of the function and the authority that comes with it. An open and inclusive environment. Strong compensation and ESOPs. How to Apply Write to with your CV.
