LocationThis role may be based in New York, NY or Newark, NJ. The attorney will primarily support matters connected to the New Jersey office while collaborating with attorneys and clients across the firm’s broader footprint. Flexible work options may be available depending on location, team needs, and client requirements.
NoteMust be admitted to practice in New York and have 3+ years of insurance coverage or closely related insurance experience, such as reinsurance, regulatory, or insurance-related litigation. New Jersey admission is strongly preferred for candidates interested in the Newark location. Federal court experience and insurance defense experience are preferred.

Job DescriptionAnalyze insurance and reinsurance policies and draft detailed coverage opinionsReview complex insurance contracts and evaluate coverage, regulatory, and litigation-related legal issuesProvide clear, practical, and strategic coverage recommendations to clientsDraft pleadings, motions, discovery demands, discovery responses, legal memoranda, and coverage analysesManage insurance coverage and related litigation matters from inception through resolutionHandle written discovery, depositions, court appearances, motion practice, and trial preparationConduct in-depth legal research on coverage, reinsurance, regulatory, and litigation issuesRespond to regulatory inquiries and assist clients with insurance-related legal obligationsCommunicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and internal team membersMaintain strong client relationships by following client guidelines and delivering responsive serviceAccurately record billable time and manage deadlines across an active caseload
QualificationsNew York bar admission required3+ years of insurance coverage or related insurance experienceExperience with coverage opinions, policy analysis, reinsurance, regulatory matters, or insurance-related litigationStrong legal writing, research, analytical, and communication skillsExperience with written discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparationAbility to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with partners, associates, and legal staffStrong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, polished workProfessional, responsive, client-focused xzbcwsv communication styleNew Jersey bar admission strongly preferred for Newark-based candidatesFederal court experience preferredInsurance defense experience preferred
