Operations & Driver Support SpecialistTransylvania County is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Operations & Driver Support Specialist to join our Transportation Division. This hybrid position plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our transit services by providing administrative support and serving as a backup van driver when needed. Work regularly requires sitting, using hands for typing or handling documents, and speaking or hearing to communicate effectively. It may occasionally require standing, walking, or light lifting (up to 25 lbs). Visual acuity is needed for reading documents and operating a vehicle. The role also requires the ability to safely operate a van and perform routine vehicle checks. The employee must be able to respond to changing environments, including varied weather and traffic conditions while driving.Work is primarily in an office setting with occasional driving responsibilities. Fast paced and responsive to operational needs. The work schedule for this position is 2-3 hours a day, Monday–Friday.The Wellness Center is open M-W-F 8am-12pm and 1pm-4pm and T-TH 8am-12pm. The Wellness Center is a partnership between Transylvania County and the City of Brevard. County Employees and dependents on the medical plan over the age of 7 may use the Wellness Center for all services at no cost. Service is provided by calling 828-884-3115 to make an appointment. Time away from your work location to visit the Wellness Center is not charged to leave. Services include routine bloodwork monitoring, allergy injections, monitoring chronic illnesses, manage and authorize prescriptions, coordinate referrals, school physicals and testing for flu, mono and strep.County employees are paid on a bi-weekly basis, totaling 26 pay periods each year. Paychecks are distributed through secure ACH direct deposit, available to all banks and credit unions. Deposits are scheduled so that funds are accessible by Friday morning on each payday. Employees have the option to split their paycheck between two accounts—one with a specified dollar amount and the other receiving the remaining balance.County Employees may be a member of the Civic Federal Credit Union.
