Sales & Use Tax Subject Matter Expert (CPA) Help Build the Future of AI-Powered Tax Technology NYC, NY | Full-Time | $150K

Empower Staffing is partnering with a fast-growing artificial intelligence company that’s changing how businesses handle indirect tax. They’re looking for a sharp Sales & Use Tax professional to bring real-world, multistate expertise to their product team. This isn’t a compliance seat. You’ll help design, train, and shape AI software used by tax teams across the country.If you’ve spent your career in Big 4 knowing exactly where tax technology falls short, this is your chance to build the version that gets it right.
What You’ll DoServe as the go-to sales and use tax expert for product, engineering, and data science teamsTranslate complex multistate tax rules (nexus, taxability, sourcing, exemptions, marketplace facilitator laws) into logic the AI can learn and applyReview and validate AI outputs for accuracy, and help define what “right” looks likeBuild test cases, edge-case scenarios, and training data from real-world fact patternsTrack legislative and regulatory changes across states and turn them into product updatesHelp shape the product roadmap based on what tax departments actually needRepresent the voice of the tax professional in customer conversations and demos
