Job Description

The Opportunity Our client, a family-owned M&E engineering group, is opening a new office in Warrington and is looking for a Mechanical Estimator to price mechanical packages across their live bids.

Between £4 million and £30 million, a mechanical package is large enough to be worth pricing properly and small enough to be yours, from the first take-off through to award.
A good number of M&E tenders are assembled rather than designed. The mechanical estimate and the electrical estimate get produced separately, the interfaces between them are priced twice or not at all, and the gap turns up on site. Pricing the two alongside each other changes the quality of the submission, and it makes for better work: the questions that come up at the boundary between the disciplines are usually the ones worth asking.
You would be pricing for major developers and main contractors. This is a permanent role in Warrington, £60,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.
About the Business The group covers a good deal more than mechanical and electrical. Fire and security, thermal, renewables and facilities management all sit alongside them, and for an estimator that breadth is practical rather than decorative: a scheme needing more than the core M&E scope can be priced in house instead of being subcontracted out and marked up.
Our client is a family-owned M&E engineering group with more than twenty years behind it, covering mechanical and electrical services, fire and security, thermal, renewables and facilities management. They work for major developers, main contractors and industrial operators across the UK on schemes between £4 million and £30 million, spanning education, residential, commercial, industrial, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, retail and aerospace. More than 75% of revenue comes from clients who have used them before, and the business holds NICEIC, Gas Safe, CHAS, SMAS Worksafe and Constructionline accreditations. The new North-West office in Warrington opens on the back of recent project wins, following a Midlands office opened a short while ago.
Pricing for developers, main contractors and industrial operators in the same month is a broader diet than most estimating seats offer, and the three of them do not want the same thing. A developer is buying certainty, a main contractor is buying the number, and an industrial operator wants to know what happens to their process while the work goes in. The same mechanical scope reads differently to each, and an estimator who can hear that is worth a good deal more than one who prices to drawings. xrexnqw
