We are looking for highly skilled pattern makers who combine exceptional technical ability with a strong eye for shape, proportion, fit, and silhouette. This role requires someone who can work to exacting specifications while also creatively problem-solving to achieve a modern, flattering result.A key focus of the role is developing patterns that can be successfully reproduced at the factory level. The ideal candidate understands how to balance creative pattern development with the technical requirements of scalable production, rather than creating patterns that are only achievable within an atelier or sample-room environment.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop accurate, production-ready patterns based on design direction and specificationsCreate and refine shapes and silhouettes with a strong understanding of fit, proportion, and balanceTranslate creative concepts into patterns that can be consistently reproduced by manufacturing partnersPartner closely with Technical Design, Production, and Product Development throughout the development processTroubleshoot pattern, construction, and fit challenges and recommend creative solutionsMake pattern adjustments throughout fittings and product developmentApply technical expertise while knowing when traditional pattern-making conventions may need to be adjusted to achieve the desired silhouetteEnsure patterns maintain the integrity of the design while remaining practical for factory productionCommunicate clearly with cross-functional partners regarding pattern development, fit, and construction

QualificationsAdvanced pattern-making expertise within fashion/apparelStrong understanding of garment construction, fit, balance, proportion, and silhouetteExperience developing patterns intended for factory reproduction xzbcwsv and productionAbility to interpret creative direction and translate it into technically sound patternsStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to explore nontraditional solutions to achieve the desired fit or silhouetteExperience collaborating with Technical Design, Production, and/or Product Development teamsHigh level of precision and attention to detailExpertise in one or more of the product categories listed above
Additional DetailsThis is a contract/project-based opportunity with the potential for ongoing work based on project needs and fit. Candidates should be based in or able to work with a New York City-based team, with some onsite collaboration expected.
