A great client at UHY is seeking an Interim Senior Controller. The ideal candidate will have deep nonprofit revenue recognition expertise under ASC 958, experience resolving complex accounting issues and supporting external audits, and a strong background in accounting documentation and internal controls.

The Interim Senior Controller role is primarily remote with occasional travel for important meetings.
Interim Senior Controller ResponsibilitiesReview and resolve complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition errors and prior-year restatementsProvide technical accounting guidance related to ASC 958, particularly grant and contribution revenue recognitionReview and strengthen balance sheet reconciliations, supporting schedules, accounting memos, and audit documentationPartner with external auditors to address audit findings and ensure accounting conclusions are properly supportedDevelop and document accounting policies, procedures, internal controls, and standardized workpapersSupport internal audit activities and improve accounting processes in preparation for year-end reportingTrain and mentor accounting team members while strengthening the team's technical knowledge and capabilitiesLeverage AI tools to support technical accounting research, agreement review, documentation, and process improvements
Interim Senior Controller RequirementsExtensive technical accounting experience, particularly with ASC 958 and nonprofit grant revenue recognitionExperience resolving complex accounting issues, correcting errors, and documenting accounting policies and proceduresStrong experience working with external auditors and preparing audit-ready financial documentationSenior-level accounting leadership experience, ideally at the Senior Manager or Controller level, with public accounting experience preferredExperience managing or leading a team of at least 6 employeesExperience with Sage Intacct and Salesforce preferredStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skillsProactive approach to managing deadlines, communicating progress, and coordinating with auditors and internal teamsExperience using AI tools in accounting workflows preferred
