Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced IB Visual Arts Teacher to join our academic team. The candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, inquiry-driven Visual Arts learning experiences aligned with IB philosophy and curriculum frameworks.

The ideal candidate should have strong subject knowledge, a creative approach to teaching, and the ability to mentor students in developing artistic skills, conceptual thinking, visual communication, and independent artistic practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Visual Arts lessons aligned with the relevant IB curriculum and assessment requirements .
• Develop students' technical, creative, conceptual, and critical-thinking skills across different art forms and media.
• Facilitate inquiry-based, student-centred learning in line with IB approaches to teaching and learning .
• Guide students in developing their individual artistic voice, portfolios, and sustained creative practices.
• Introduce students to a wide range of artists, art movements, cultures, techniques, and contemporary art practices.
• Encourage experimentation with traditional and digital art forms, where appropriate.
• Support students in documenting and reflecting on their creative process and artistic development.
• Assess student work using IB assessment criteria and provide constructive, timely feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress, assessments, and academic interventions.
• Collaborate with other subject teachers to develop interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning opportunities.
• Participate in exhibitions, art showcases, school events, workshops, and other co-curricular activities.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of the Visual Arts curriculum and departmental resources.
• Stay updated with developments in IB Visual Arts, contemporary art practices, teaching methodologies, and assessment requirements.
• Support students in preparing for IB assessments, exhibitions, portfolios, and related coursework.
• Maintain a well-organised, inclusive, safe, and inspiring studio environment.
• Participate actively in departmental meetings, professional development programmes, and school initiatives.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Applied Arts, Art Education, or a related discipline .
• A recognised teaching qualification such as B.Ed. is preferred.
• IB training/certification in Visual Arts is preferred.
• Candidates with relevant IB experience and strong subject expertise may also be considered.

Experience

• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant teaching experience in Visual Arts.
• Experience teaching within an IB school is preferred.
• Experience with IB DP Visual Arts will be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of IB curriculum, assessment practices, and learner-centred pedagogy.
• Experience mentoring students for exhibitions, portfolios, or art projects is desirable.
• Candidates should demonstrate a strong personal portfolio or evidence of professional artistic practice.
