Job Description
Role Overview
The Service Now Technical Architect is responsible for the overall technical design, architecture, and governance of the enterprise Service Now platform. In this role, you will bridge the gap between business requirements and technical execution, designing scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions that align with Service Now best practices. You will serve as the primary technical advisor to stakeholders, establish engineering standards, lead complex integrations, and mentor a team of developers and administrators to maximize the ROI of our Service Now investment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Solution Design & Architecture
Lead the architectural design and roadmap for the enterprise Service Now platform, ensuring scalability, security, and platform health.
Translate complex functional business requirements into robust technical specifications, definitions, and high-level designs.
Evaluate new features and capabilities in upcoming Service Now releases and formulate upgrade/migration strategies.
2. Technical Leadership & Governance
Establish and champion platform governance, coding standards, code-review processes, and technical debt mitigation protocols.
Provide technical oversight and guidance to developers, administrators, and business analysts throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
3. Integration & Automation
Architect and configure complex, secure, multi-system integrations usin g Integration H ub , Flow Design er, REST/SOAP APIs, and MID Server configurations.
Design instance-to-instance architectures or cross-company service delivery models (e.g., vi a Service Brid ge or custom spokes) if required.
Required Qualifications & Skills Experience
Total IT Experie nce: 10+ years of experience in enterprise software development, system integration, and software architecture.
Service Now Experie nce: 8+ years of dedicated experience specifically as a Service Now Technical Architect or Senior Technical Lead.
Proven track record of architecting and delivering multiple large-scale, multi-module Service Now implementations.
Technical Competencies
Platform Deep- Dive: Comprehensive technical knowledge across multiple Service Now workflows (IT Workflows, Employee Workflows, Customer Workflows, Creator Workflows).
Scripting & Web Tech: Advanced proficiency in Java Script, Glide Script, HTML, CSS, Angular JS, JSON, and web server.
Core Platform Architec ture: Expert understanding of Business Rules, Script Includes, UI Actions, Client Scripts, ACLs, and UI Builder/Next Experience)
Framew orks: Solid understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and ITIL processes.
Soft
Excellent consultative, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Strong mentorship qualities with a history of upskilling junior and mid-level development talent.

Service Now Certified System Administrator
(CSA)Service Now Certified Application Developer
(CAD)Service Now Certified Technical Architect (CTA) or Certified Master Architect
(CMA)Service Now Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in one or more tracks (e.g., ITSM, ITOM, HRSD, SPM, IRM/GRC).
