We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Advanced Clinician, Lymphedema Services and Breast Rehabilitation to provide clinical leadership for our growing outpatient lymphedema program at Harkness Physical Therapy. This role combines advanced patient care with mentorship, program development, referral management, and interdisciplinary collaboration to support patients with cancer-related and non-oncologic lymphedema. The Advanced Clinician will play a key role in strengthening access to specialized lymphedema services, advancing breast cancer survivorship care, supporting therapist development, and building standardized workflows that promote high-quality, patient-centered care. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership
- Serve as a clinical resource and mentor for therapists managing lymphedema patients.
- Provide consultation and treatment for complex upper- and lower-extremity lymphedema cases.
- Support competency development and onboarding of therapists pursuing lymphedema specialization.
- Lead case reviews, educational programs, and departmental in-services.
- Develop and maintain evidence-informed lymphedema evaluation and treatment pathways.
- Standardize clinical documentation, patient education materials, and clinical workflows.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives and program outcome tracking.
- Monitor program metrics including access, referral volume, wait times, and patient outcomes.
- Oversee review and triage of lymphedema referrals.
- Support timely access for patients with breast cancer-related lymphedema and other high-priority referrals.
- Collaborate with scheduling teams to optimize patient access and continuity of care.
- Assist with garment and compression management workflows.
- Serve as a key rehabilitation liaison to Breast Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Physiatry, Vascular surgery, and Medical Oncology.
- Support development of referral pathways and communication processes across disciplines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy.
- Minimum of five years of clinical experience.
- Minimum of one year of experience in outpatient lymphedema therapy
- Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT) from a recognized organization.
- Experience treating upper- and lower-extremity lymphedema.
- Experience with oncology rehabilitation and breast cancer survivorship care.
- Demonstrated history of mentorship, teaching, and staff development.
- Completion of 20 CEU’s with 50% of CEU’s in lymphedema management and 10 CEU’s within the last 3 years
- Clinical instruction of >/= 2 students
- Participation in departmental projects/ program development/publications
- Formal teaching experience.
- Current New York State Physical Therapy license.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Eligibility for appointment as an Advanced Clinician in accordance with departmental requirements, including demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, education, and professional contributions.
- Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
- Experience with program development, quality improvement, research, or committee leadership.
- LANA Certification preferred.
- Experience in the management of patients with orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
- A.P.T.A. Membership.
