Management and governance of data privacy risk and ensure regulatory and policy adherence as second line of defense. To advise in implementation of data privacy controls in order to comply with data protection regulations and policies. Provide necessary advisory to support the first line of defense to fulfil the data privacy requirements of the bank. The DPO serves as the primary regulatory point of contact, oversees the privacy strategy function, and provides governance oversight to all data privacy operations across the organisation

• Ensure compliance with DPDPA and all applicable data protection laws.
• Approve and ratify privacy policies and procedures.
• Ensure PIAs / DPIAs are conducted for new initiatives.
• Oversee breach response and regulatory notifications.
• Provide governance oversight of the overall data privacy program including strategy, operations, and BAU.
• Approve privacy policies, standards, and procedures developed by the Senior Privacy Strategist.
• Review and sign off on Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).

Oversee data breach incident response and ensure statutory notifications are made within required timelines.

Key Skills

Technical & Behavioral Competencies

• Professional certifications in data protection / privacy (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT etc.)
• Deep knowledge of DPDPA, GDPR, RBI and SEBI privacy requirements and cross-border implications.
• Strong regulatory affairs and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience managing enterprise data privacy program.
• Ability to advise at Board and senior management level.
• Strong analytical, communication and influencing skills.
• Experience in financial services regulatory environment.
