Job Description

Role: Accountant & Tax Specialist (India)

Location: Bhandup, Mumbai

Salary: INR 18-20LPA

Reporting Structure: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary

The Accountant & Tax Specialist will be responsible for managing the complete accounting operations, statutory compliance, taxation, and financial reporting activities for the India entity. The role ensures accurate financial records, timely tax filings, compliance with Indian regulatory requirements, and effective coordination with regional and global finance teams.

This position will support daily finance operations, audits, regulatory compliance, and process improvements while ensuring adherence to Indian GAAP, GST, TDS, PF/ESIC, ROC requirements, and internal financial policies.

Qualification Requirements

Education

•Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance (B.Com/M.Com).

•CA Qualified or CMA qualification required.

Experience

•5+ years of relevant experience in accounting and taxation in India.

•Experience in engineering, manufacturing, EPC, infrastructure, or project-based industries preferred.

•Experience working with multinational organizations is an advantage.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

•Indian GAAP and accounting practices.

•GST, TDS, and Income Tax regulations.

•PF, ESIC, and Professional Tax compliance.

•Companies Act compliance basics.

•Transfer pricing concepts (preferred).

•ERP systems; Oracle Fusion experience is an added advantage.

•Advanced MS Excel and MS Office skills.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accounting & Financial Operations

•Manage day-to-day accounting activities in accordance with Indian accounting standards and company policies.

•Maintain general ledger, perform month-end closing activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

•Ensure accurate recording of journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and provisions.

•Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including vendor and customer coordination.

•Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and ensure timely settlements.

•Coordinate with procurement, operations, HR, and finance teams for smooth financial operations.

•Manage employee expense claims, reimbursements, and petty cash activities.

•Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of financial information.

2. Taxation & Statutory Compliance

•Manage statutory compliance requirements, including: GST registration, monthly/quarterly returns, reconciliations, and refund claims. TDS deductions, payments, return filings, and reconciliation with Form 26AS. Income Tax compliance, advance tax calculations, tax audit support, assessments, and notices. PF, ESIC, and Professional Tax compliance. ROC filings and annual compliance requirements in coordination with company secretaries.

•Coordinate with external tax consultants for timely and accurate statutory filings.

•Maintain compliance calendars and ensure all deadlines are met.

•Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany compliance requirements.

3.Audit, Controls & Risk Management

•Support internal, statutory, and group audit activities.

•Prepare audit schedules, supporting documents, and coordinate responses to auditor queries.

•Implement and maintain internal financial controls and compliance procedures.

•Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation schedules, and capitalization records.

•Identify process improvement opportunities and support risk mitigation initiatives.

4.Financial Reporting & Analysis

•Prepare monthly MIS reports, financial statements, variance analysis, and cost reports.

•Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial review processes.

•Provide insights on cost optimization and operational efficiency.

•Assist regional and global finance teams with India-specific financial data and analysis.

5.ERP & Global Finance Coordination

•Manage accounting data entry and reporting through ERP systems (Oracle Fusion experience preferred).

•Support ERP finance module processes and act as a local system point of contact after training.

•Coordinate with international finance teams for reporting, reconciliations, and compliance requirements.

•Support integration of payroll, tax, and local accounting processes into ERP systems.

•Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management review.
