About the RoleSargent Law Firm is hiring a personal injury attorney for our Oceanside office. You'll carry a caseload of roughly 70–120 active files, depending on experience and case phase, at a time, from pre-litigation through resolution: building claims, negotiating with carriers, and litigating when a case needs to be filed. Pay ranges $120,000-$350,000 depending on experience and performance. The bonus is based on fees produced.Origination credit. Roughly 40-hour weeks, with cases staffed so the workload is manageable.Dedicated support staff. Paralegals and case managers are assigned to your cases.Modern systems. Health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off and holidays; CA Bar dues and MCLE reimbursement.ResponsibilitiesPre-LitigationEvaluate new cases for liability, damages, and coverageMonitor client treatment and gather medical records and billsPrepare demand packages and negotiate settlements with adjustersDecide with the team when a case should be filedLitigationManage a litigation caseload from initial filing through trialDraft and argue motions; handle written discovery and discovery disputesTake and defend depositionsPrepare for and attend mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferencesWork up cases for trial, including experts, damages, and trial prepNegotiate resolutions with carriers and defense counselAcross BothDirect the paralegals and case managers assigned to your cases on case strategy and deadlines (this is case-level direction, not personnel management)Maintain accurate, deadline-driven case files and calendarsQualificationsActive member of the California State Bar in good standing (required)2+ years of personal injury experience in pre-litigation, litigation, or both. Strong litigators from other practice areas are also welcome to apply, provided they're ready to ramp up quickly on PI-specific work (demand prep, liens, medical record review)Strong legal writing, negotiation, and communication skillsComfortable with technology. You'll work in Filevine daily and use AI tools in case work, so you should pick up new software quickly.
