We're Hiring: Backend Engineer (HMS) – MedOrbit, an AI-Native Hospital Platform

This isn't a "maintain a CRUD app" role. MedOrbit is already live with paying hospitals, runs the full clinical and operational spine of a hospital, and has 11 AI agents in production under clinician control. You'll build the backend that doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and billing teams use every day.

Location: Nagarabhavi, Bangalore (On-site, 5 days a week)

Type: Full-time

Joining: Immediate joiners strongly preferred

Mandatory: Hands-on experience developing a Hospital Management System (HMS), EHR/EMR, LIS, pharmacy or other healthcare software (job, internship or substantial project)

About MedOrbit

MedOrbit (by AI Nexus Innovations Hub) is a multi-tenant hospital management platform built for Indian healthcare. One codebase serves 24 facility types, from a solo doctor's clinic to a 500-bed super-specialty hospital, pathology labs, imaging centres, dialysis chains, blood banks and retail pharmacies.

It covers OPD, IPD, OT, Emergency, NICU, maternity, LIS / RIS / PACS, teleradiology, telemedicine, pharmacy, billing, revenue-cycle management and insurance / TPA. It is ABDM-integrated (ABHA, consent, HIP/HIU, FHIR R4), NHCX-connected for claims, HL7 and DICOM interoperable, and supports NABH/NABL evidence and DPDP compliance.

What You'll Do

1️⃣ Core HMS Modules

→ Build and extend Java / Spring Boot microservices across patient registration, appointments, OPD/IPD workflows, bed management, lab orders, pharmacy inventory, billing and insurance claims

→ Design REST APIs and database schemas that work across 24 facility types without forking the codebase

→ Implement module licensing and multi-tenant data isolation so each hospital sees only what it has licensed

2️⃣ Healthcare Integrations

→ Work on ABDM flows: ABHA creation/linking, consent management, HIP/HIU data exchange

→ Build and maintain FHIR R4 resources, HL7 messages from lab analysers, and DICOM integration with PACS

→ Support NHCX claim submission and TPA workflows

3️⃣ AI Integration

→ Integrate Python-based AI services (ambient scribe, lab report intelligence, X-ray analysis, claim-denial guard) into the core platform

→ Build the APIs, queues and audit trails that let AI outputs appear inside doctor workflows, with clinician approval recorded every time

4️⃣ Reliability & Compliance

→ Write unit and integration tests, review code, and fix production issues quickly

→ Build audit logs, role-based access control, consent tracking and data-erasure features for DPDP and NABH compliance

→ Optimise queries and APIs for hospitals with high daily patient volumes

What You Bring

Must-Have:

→ B.Tech / B.E. / M.Tech / MCA in Computer Science or related field (2024–2026 batches welcome)

→ Hands-on experience building an HMS, EHR/EMR, LIS, RIS, pharmacy or clinic management system. Be ready to walk us through the modules you built, the database design, and the problems you solved

→ Strong fundamentals in Java and Spring Boot

→ Good understanding of REST APIs, SQL, joins, indexing and data modelling

→ Understanding of hospital workflows: patient registration → consultation → orders → billing → discharge

→ Working knowledge of Git, Docker and Linux

→ Clear communication – you'll work with doctors and hospital staff, not just engineers

Nice-to-Have (Bonus Points!):

→ Exposure to FHIR, HL7, DICOM, ABDM, LOINC or ICD codes

→ Microservices architecture, Kafka / RabbitMQ, Redis caching

→ AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda) and CI/CD pipelines

→ Experience with insurance/TPA billing or GST-compliant invoicing

→ Basic Python or experience integrating ML/LLM services

→ Frontend exposure (React / Angular) for full-stack debugging
