Company OverviewMaverick Space Systems, Inc. is a small but growing aerospace company which provides various products and services to the small satellite industry, including but not limited to: CubeSat and ESPA Class satellite launch adapter hardware, Launch Integration Services/Mission Management, and low-cost hardware and test solutions for small satellites and their subsystems.
Job SummaryMaverick Space Systems is seeking a self-motivated full time Structural Analyst to join our growing team in San Luis Obispo, CA. A successful candidate will have at least 1-5 years of industry experience, will enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, and will have proficiency in finite element analysis and mechanical design.
Responsibilities and DutiesFinite element analysis of components and assembliesStructural analysis and requirements checking, including rough structural sizing, hand calculations, FEA, and FEA-assisted hand calculationsFEMAP/NASTRAN Experience Preferred. Prior experience with a similar tool such as Abaqus or ANSYS may be acceptable.Perform concept trade studies for both metallic and composite material analysisPerform mechanical and structural design tasks relating to satellite deployment systems and test hardwareGenerate mechanical drawings as required for manufacturingSupport environmental testing, primarily random vibration, sine vibration, sine burst and shock testing
Required Qualifications and SkillsA minimum of 1-5 years experience in structural analysis, or a Master’s Degree with concentration or thesis in structures and/or FEAFinite Element Analysis Experience requiredExperience presenting analysis and results to technical groups and customersExperience interfacing with co-workers on a daily basisProficiency xzbcwsv with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)Excellent communication and writing skillsSelf-motivated, organized, humble, and willing to learnWilling to relocate to San Luis Obispo, CAUS Citizenship
Desirable Qualifications and SkillsMaster’s degree in Mechanical EngineeringProficiency with Python and/or MatlabExperience interfacing with customersLoads and Dynamics experienceOptimization experience
