Position: Production Manager – FMCG (Biscuits & Cookies)

Job Summary

A reputed FMCG company in Nepal is looking for an experienced Production Manager to oversee end-to-end production operations for its Biscuits & Cookies manufacturing unit . The position will be responsible for achieving production targets while maintaining high standards of product quality, food safety, operational efficiency, cost control, hygiene, and workplace safety .

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Operations

• Plan, organize, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules in line with business requirements.
• Ensure timely achievement of production targets while maintaining quality and efficiency standards.
• Monitor production processes and identify bottlenecks, downtime, and operational inefficiencies.
• Optimize utilization of manpower, raw materials, machinery, and production capacity .

2. Quality & Food Safety

• Ensure production processes comply with established quality, food safety, hygiene, and regulatory standards .
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to maintain consistent product quality and minimize defects, rejection, and wastage.
• Ensure proper documentation, traceability, corrective actions, and compliance with internal and external audits.

3. New Product Development

• Lead and coordinate new product development (NPD) initiatives, including formulation, trials, testing, packaging, and commercialization.
• Work closely with R&D, QA, Procurement, Sales, and Marketing teams for successful product launches.
• Identify new ingredients, technologies, product concepts, and process improvements based on market trends and consumer requirements.

4. Maintenance & Engineering Coordination

• Coordinate with Engineering/Maintenance teams to ensure timely preventive and corrective maintenance of production equipment.
• Minimize machine downtime and improve overall equipment availability and production efficiency.
• Support initiatives related to process automation, equipment upgrades, and capacity enhancement.

5. Cost & Resource Management

• Monitor production costs, material consumption, wastage, energy utilization, and overall operational expenses.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste minimization, yield improvement, and productivity enhancement .
• Ensure optimum utilization of production resources within approved budgets.

6. Team & People Management

• Lead, supervise, and develop production staff and operators.
• Allocate manpower and work assignments based on production requirements.
• Conduct staff training on production processes, food safety, hygiene, GMP, workplace safety, and operational procedures.
• Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Coordinate effectively with Sales, Marketing, QA/QC, Engineering, Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, and R&D teams.
• Ensure production plans are aligned with demand forecasts, raw-material availability, and delivery requirements.

8. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

• Monitor and analyze production, quality, maintenance, inventory, wastage, productivity, and operational reports.
• Prepare monthly production and performance reports for management.
• Track KPIs and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve production performance.

9. Continuous Improvement & Compliance

• Identify and implement initiatives to improve productivity, yield, efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness .
• Ensure compliance with company policies, SOPs, food safety requirements, occupational safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain a safe, hygienic, organized, and efficient production environment.

10. Shift Management

• Ensure smooth production operations across assigned shifts.
• Must be willing to work night and rotational shifts as required by business and production needs.

Qualification & Experience

• B.Tech/M.Tech in Food Technology, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
• MBA/PGDM in Operations, Production, or Management will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in Biscuit & Cookies manufacturing/production , preferably within the FMCG/food manufacturing industry.
• At least 3–4 years of experience in a managerial/supervisory production role .
• Strong hands-on knowledge of biscuit/cookies production processes, production planning, quality control, food safety, GMP, hygiene, and manufacturing operations .
• Experience in new product development, formulation trials, process improvement, cost optimization, and production team management will be preferred.
