Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer to join our team. This candidate requires a strong background in electric power transmission/generation, a passion for innovation, and an ability to collaborate well with clients and stakeholders. The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills critical to working with diverse teams in a primarily remote work environment. This role involves significant collaboration with client teams and offers considerable latitude for independent judgment and action related to program objectives.

- Technical Leadership: Prepare typical technical reports and represent the organization in regional planning and strategy roles.
- Strategic Advisory: Translate highly technical load flow results, thermal limits, and stability analyses into clear business risks, timeline impacts, and financial options for non-technical executives or investors.
- Scope power delivery projects, prepare RFPs, draft develop rough order magnitude cost estimates, support land and permit acquisitions, provide technical support for due diligence evaluations, and otherwise support power engineering, procurement and construction projects
- Support client engagement with electric utilities on feasibility studies, power topology design, and interconnection processes for either electric load or generation, including support of contract development to specify power demand, reliability, schedule and cost requirements.
- Analyze operational scenarios in a simulated environment to identify potential challenges and opportunities
- Compliance & Studies: Navigate ISO/RTO interconnection processes. Maintain NERC and FERC compliance. Perform contingency analysis (N-1, N-1-1) and craft practical solutions like reconductoring, new facility construction, and RAS (Remedial Action Schemes).
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
- 5+ years of progressive experience
- Proficiency with the use, or review of outputs from, load-flow analysis software, such as PowerWorld, PSS/E, PowerGEM, GE-PSLF, or E-TAP
- Knowledge of, or experience with, three-phase, high-voltage power transmission and distribution systems (69kV - 765kV)
- Ability to read and assess transmission capacity and interconnection contracts, and electric infrastructure construction documents, including drawings, specifications and RFPs
- Demonstrated strengths in verbal and written communication
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7+ years of power systems engineering experience, with a proven track record at a major utility, ISO/RTO, or specialized power delivery consultancy. Electric utility transmission planning and/or operations experience preferred.
- Experience with Transmission or Power System Operations Planning, such as conducting load flow, stability, short-circuit, and voltage analyses to evaluate long-term transmission expansion or near-term system operations for grid reliability
- Experience with Capacity Planning, including development of load forecasting models and analyzing the integration of renewable energy resources, Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), and high-demand loads (e.g. data centers).
- 7+ years of experience with MW-scale blended resource microgrids, with emphasis on natural gas generation
- Experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and inverter-based resources.
- Familiarity with the application of NERC Reliability Standards.
- Familiarity or experience with scripting languages (i.e. Python, MATLAB)
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Advanced degrees preferred.
