ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking to hire a talented and experienced Video Editor to join our growing content team. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in video editing, post-production, and digital content creation, with a passion for visual storytelling and entertainment. The role involves editing and producing high-quality video content for digital platforms, enhancing editorial content through creative storytelling, and collaborating with the editorial and production teams to deliver engaging visual experiences.

The successful candidate should possess excellent technical expertise in modern video editing techniques, a creative mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced newsroom while maintaining the highest journalistic and production standards.

Responsibilities:

• Edit and produce high-quality video content for social media platforms.

• Trim, cut, and arrange footage, ensuring smooth transitions, high-quality sound effects, and appropriate background music.

• Perform colour grading and colour correction, ensuring all content aligns with the organization's visual style.

• Add text overlays, captions, and subtitles to make content accessible and engaging.

• Design compelling thumbnails that encourage viewers to engage with video content.

• Collaborate closely with the editorial and production teams to maintain the quality and consistency of all video content.

• Stay updated with the latest trends in news, cinema, video editing techniques, and digital content best practices.

• Operate and handle cameras during shoots, ensuring proper framing, lighting, and audio capture for high-quality raw footage.

• Ensure all video content is optimized for digital platforms, creating engaging and shareable videos.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Visual Communication, Film Studies, or a related field.

• 3+ years of experience in video editing, particularly for YouTube, social media, podcast, interviews or news/entertainment content.

• Strong understanding of video editing principles, including cutting, pacing, visual storytelling, and audio synchronization.

• Expertise in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer, or similar tools.

• Proven creativity in storytelling with a keen eye for detail.

• Ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication and collaboration within the team.

• Hands-on experience with professional camera equipment and on-set video production, including lighting, composition, and audio recording.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Fluency in Malayalam (spoken and written).

Additional Skills:

• Experience with motion graphics and animation.

• Knowledge of YouTube SEO and best practices for video optimization.

• Familiarity with digital content strategy and video engagement trends.

• Previous experience in media journalism will be an added advantage.
