Position: Senior Manager – Medical Affairs

Location: Mumbai

Qualification

• MD (Any Specialization) / 10yrs post qualification

Must Have

• People management experience
• Current or prior exposure to the Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) function
• Experience leading Medical Affairs teams
• Diversity candidates preferred

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & People Management

• Lead recruitment, onboarding and development of the Regional Medical Advisor (RMA) team.
• Build and manage a high-performing RMA team through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Develop and deliver scientific and medical training programs for RMAs.
• Ensure consistency in scientific knowledge, medical excellence and field medical practices across the business.
• Drive talent development, succession planning and employee retention.
• Ensure timely reporting of any Product Complaints, ADRs or Adverse Events to the Pharmacovigilance (PV) team.

Medical Affairs & Scientific Leadership

• Lead the development of Medical Affairs strategies and field medical capabilities.
• Ensure high-quality scientific support for internal stakeholders and external healthcare professionals.
• Support disease awareness, scientific exchange and product lifecycle management across assigned therapeutic areas.
• Identify operational improvements and implement best practices within the RMA function.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with Medical Affairs, Marketing and Sales teams to ensure alignment of business objectives.
• Support Medico-Marketing initiatives including Advisory Boards, Medical Booths, Educational Programs and Scientific Events.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute medical and clinical strategies.
• Share insights from Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and the external medical community with internal stakeholders.
• Ensure adequate field medical resource planning to support business priorities.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company SOPs and Medical Affairs guidelines.
• Maintain high standards of ethical scientific engagement and field medical compliance.
• Support continuous improvement of Medical Affairs processes and capabilities.

External Engagement

• Build and maintain strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals.
• Participate in national and international scientific meetings to stay updated on therapeutic area developments.
• Present Medical Affairs updates and business reviews to internal leadership teams.

Preferred Background

• 10-12 years of Medical Affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
• Experience managing Regional Medical Advisors (RMAs), Medical Advisors or Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs).
• Strong exposure to KOL management, scientific engagement, Medico-Marketing and cross-functional leadership.
• Experience in multinational pharmaceutical organizations will be an advantage.
