- Administer precise radiation therapy treatments in accordance with the Radiation Oncologist's instructions and established safety protocols.
- Prepare patients for treatment, including simulation, positioning, and use of immobilization devices.
- Calculate radiation dosages and operate linear accelerators and other complex radiotherapy equipment.
- Maintain detailed treatment records and ensure accurate documentation within the electronic medical record system.
- Educate patients and their families about radiation therapy procedures, side effects, and management strategies.
- Observe patients during treatment and report any concerns or changes in condition to the Radiation Oncologist or radiation oncology nurse.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance and safety checks.
- Associate's degree in Radiation Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy.
- New York State licensure as a Radiation Therapist.
- Excellent technical skills and a high degree of precision and accuracy.
- Strong patient-centered focus and the ability to provide compassionate support.
- Experience with advanced treatment techniques such as IMRT, IGRT, or SBRT (preferred)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
