About the Position

If selected, you will...

  • Review all lot drainage plans submitted to Land Development as part of the building permit process for compliance with the Unified Development Code.

  • Provide on-site inspections of private, public, and county-owned property; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, statutes, and County ordinances.

  • Offer backup support for Land Development Inspectors in their inspection activities.

  • Provide support in the review of site development permit plans and right-of-way use permits.

About the Schedule

Work Hours:

  • Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. ( No weekends! )

About You

To be considered for this role, you must have the following:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent and 4+ years of total experience in inspecting.

  • OR: College or university-level training in an appropriate field may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

  • Valid Florida driver's license at the time of hire.

The ideal candidate has the following:

Please note that these are not requirements but bonuses for your consideration.

  • Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Stormwater, Erosion, and Sedimentation Control Inspector Certification, or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire. ( We can help with this! )

  • Experience reading and interpreting subdivision, drainage, and construction plans and specifications.

  • Knowledge of stormwater hydrology and hydraulics, drainage construction methods, surveying, pavement design, and erosion control practices.

  • Experience conducting field inspections and working with the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects.

  • Strong communication and computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn County systems such as Accela, GIS, and Workday.

Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment in any class for a period of five (5) years.

About Everything Else

Starting Pay Range: $24.74/hr (minimum) up to $31.54 ( midpoint ), based on experience.
