Postdoctoral Psychology Resident, Child & Family, Paid W2 Path to Licensure | 3650351
Pave Talent · Falls church, United States
Job Description
( ), , ' .
An established, award-winning child and family group practice in Northern Virginia, recognized by local readers and editors as one of the area's best mental health practices, and a place where clinicians put down roots and where residents have become licensed clinicians who built long careers; average tenure is 7+ years.
Here, you don't train alone. You see the child or teen while a colleague sees the parent down the hall, or the other way around. You bring a tough case to weekly team consultation and leave with three new ideas. After a hard session, someone is there.
The culture is simple: build real connections, do the everyday work exceptionally well, do the right thing, and go further than expected for the families you serve. That shows up with clients, with the pediatricians and schools who refer, and with each other.

• Supervision toward licensure. Weekly supervision with an experienced licensed psychologist as you prepare for the EPPP and Virginia licensure, under a written supervision agreement.
• Build your assessment skills. Evaluation training against a real testing referral stream, with all testing supplies and ongoing peer consultation provided.
• Find your specialty. Explore what you love or develop one you're curious about (anxiety, trauma, ADHD, eating disorders, parenting, and more). Bring the interest and drive, and we'll help you build it.
• Learn from the team every week. Case consultation, in-house didactics on the topics in your caseload, and colleagues who share what's working.
• A path to a licensed position. Residents who are a strong fit can step into a licensed role here once licensed, with a referral stream built around their strengths.
Billing, intake scheduling, and correspondence are handled by administrative staff. Referrals come from years of relationships with area pediatricians, schools, and counselors. A waitlist means your caseload fills in months, not a year of marketing yourself.
• $60,000 to $120,000 a year, scaling with clinical hours as your supervised caseload builds
• Paid W2 residency, not a stipend: fee-for-service pay, plus a quarterly bonus that rises with your weekly client hours
• Group malpractice coverage and Virginia license fees reimbursed with no waiting period
• Simple IRA with a 1:1 match up to 3% after one year
• Access to health, dental, and vision insurance
• Paid time off as a cash bonus that grows with tenure: a paid week each year from the July after your first full year, and a second week after five years
• A supervised caseload built to your training level, with evaluation work layered in as your training allows
• Scheduled weekly supervision, separate from the weekly team meeting
• Monday to Friday, afternoons and early evenings, primarily in person with some telehealth, and room for weekends if you choose
• Weekly team meetings and an annual retreat that are central to how the team works together
• Recent doctoral graduates (Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology) registered, or eligible to register, as a Resident in Psychology with the Virginia Board of Psychology
• Practicum, internship, or early clinical experience with children, teens, or families
• Evaluation training, or the appetite to build it
• People who light up working with kids, teens, and parents, and who can shift from playful to professional in the same afternoon
• Team players who value collaboration, accountability, and staying connected with a client's other providers
• Residents who want to grow a career in one place, not hop between practices
Probably not a fit if you need a strictly daytime schedule (kids are in school until 3) or you'd rather share a lobby than a team.
