Job Description

Job Title: Consultant/Sr. Consultant - Fire & Life Safety Location: Mumbai (preferred) Reporting to: Senior Head of Audit & Consultancy Primary Job Purpose: To lead the delivery, technical assurance, and growth of British Safety Council's Fire & Life Safety services across India, acting as the principal subject matter expert and trusted advisor to clients. The role combines technical leadership with commercial support, ensuring high-quality service delivery, regulatory compliance, client satisfaction, market development, business growth, and continuous capability enhancement, while supporting Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) audit and consultancy services where required. Key Responsibilities: Lead and deliver all Fire & Life Safety audits, risk assessments, compliance reviews and consultancy assignments. Act as the primary technical reviewer and quality assurance resource for all Fire & Life Safety deliverables. Develop project scopes, methodologies, work plans and resource requirements for Fire & Life Safety engagements. Provide technical support to sales teams, participate in client discussions and support proposal development. Conduct fire risk assessments, emergency preparedness reviews, evacuation assessments and fire safety management system evaluations. Review fire protection system design intent, operation, maintenance and management arrangements against applicable standards. (HS1) Support investigation and resolution of technical complaints, appeals and corrective actions arising from Fire & Life Safety projects. Recruit, induct, mentor and standardise delivery associates involved in Fire & Life Safety services. Support development, maintenance and enhancement of Fire & Life Safety products, protocols, checklists and tools. Monitor emerging regulations, NBC, NFPA and industry best practices and incorporate changes into service delivery. Deliver OHS audits, training and consultancy assignments where required. Liaise with operations, sales and global technical teams to ensure consistent and high-quality service delivery. Maintain CPD and professional competence in Fire & Life Safety and OHS discipline Support the development and growth of the Fire & Life Safety service line through active collaboration with Sales, Marketing and Operations teams. Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, presentations and solution demonstrations to support new business acquisition and account growth. Lead the technical development of proposals, tenders and bid submissions, including scope definition, methodology, resource planning and technical narratives. Provide technical input into pricing, effort estimation and delivery strategies to ensure commercially viable proposals. Support the improvement of proposal quality, competitiveness and win rates through continuous review of client feedback, successes and losses. Monitor market trends, regulatory developments and competitor activities to identify emerging business opportunities and enhance service offerings. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, industry bodies, partners and key stakeholders to increase market visibility and business opportunities. Contribute to thought leadership initiatives including technical articles, webinars, seminars, conferences and client workshops to strengthen brand positioning and market awareness. Contribute to pipeline reviews and business planning by providing technical assessment of potential opportunities and delivery considerations. Ownership of planning and managing the audit delivery and quality assurance functions to ensure that audit and consultancy products and services are delivered to the highest possible standards. Deliver British Safety Council audit products and services in accordance with internal standards and processes. Support Senior Head of Audit and Consultancy in the preparation or delivery of strategic activity and projects. As Lead, ensure adequate resourcing and delivery of development or other projects where allocated. Support the development, maintenance, marketing and sales of audit and consultancy products and services. Support provision of appropriate technical support and guidance for sales and operations personnel as required Managing delivery associates with respect to recruitment, induction, delivery, standardization and QA. This role may involve prolonged travelling and service delivery cover at short notice. Person Specifications: Skills & Qualifications Degree in Fire or Fire & Safety Engineering Demonstrable experience of auditing protocols and processes NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety Breadth and depth of understanding of the fire safety management Industry experience in an operational or leadership capacity Evidence of strong IT skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Excel Evidence of strong verbal and written (inc. report writing) influencing and communication skills. Technical knowledge and experience of a range of safety, health and environmental management principles, tools and techniques. Exposure to Behavioral Safety and Safety Culture Change. Basic knowledge of Wellbeing. Experience Suitable experience (12-15 years minimum) implementing Fire Safety management systems Demonstrable experience of client relationship management Experience in a fire safety & OHS consultancy role Familiar with NFPA , NBC Codes& Standards.
