About the OpportunityA privately owned, fast-scaling manufacturer in Plainfield, Indiana is looking for its first true Accounting Manager. The company builds to order, is growing quickly, and needs a finance leader who can build the function from the ground up. This is not a reporting-only seat. You will own all accounting and finance, and you will work closely with operations, sales, and ownership on how the business prices, quotes, funds, and grows.
What You'll DoOwn the entire accounting and finance function, end to endBuild job costing and inventory costing from scratch, and confirm the company is quoting profitablyTake ownership of the quote model. Quoting is currently done by the engineers, and the model needs to be rebuilt. You will be deeply involved in how pricing is built and applied.Diagnose why earnings aren't tracking with sales performance. The ratios are off, and you will find out why and bring the two back into alignment.Establish financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting where none exists todayLead the transition from receivables-based financing to traditional bank relationships and a line of creditBuild the financial case for facility expansion and capital equipment purchasesPartner with senior leadership on corporate development, including licensing and C-suite conversationsSupport the investor relationship and coordinate with the outside CPAStay hands-on with both the operations and sales teams
What You BringPrior experience as a Accounting Manager or Accounting SupervisorManufacturing experience (non-negotiable)Job costing experienceInventory management and costing experienceExperience building financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting from scratchExperience securing a line of credit and working with banksStrong command of cash flow management, quoting and pricing models, and planning at least a quarter aheadExperience as a one-person department and building a team or function from nothingMaturity and a real grasp of high-level strategic workA self-starter and leader who comes in with a point of view and the confidence to back it upFlexibility. This is a small, fast-moving, hands-on environment.
