Hiring: Associate Scientist – High-Throughput Purification & Automation
Location: Oceanside, CA
Work Schedule: Onsite, 5 days/week
Contract: 12 months
Level: Associate Scientist (Level 26)
We are looking for a hands-on Associate Scientist to support downstream purification process development and characterization during pivotal and commercial development.
What You’ll Do
- Perform high-throughput purification (HTP) of upstream/cell culture samples.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot HTP and microscale purification assays .
- Operate and optimize automated liquid-handling platforms such as Tecan and Hamilton .
- Perform purification studies using chromatography, ÄKTA, plate-based chromatography, and filtration .
- Support downstream process development and process characterization studies.
- Analyze experimental data and document results in ELN, protocols, and reports .
- Collaborate with upstream, downstream, and cross-functional teams.
⭐ Top 3 Must-Have Skills
- High-Throughput Purification (HTP) – hands-on experience developing/executing HTP or microscale purification workflows.
- Automation – experience with Tecan and/or Hamilton automated liquid-handling systems.
- Chromatography & Downstream Processing – experience with ÄKTA, chromatography, filtration, and purification process development .
Qualifications
- M.S. + 2 years or B.S. + 4 years of relevant industry experience.
- Degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering , or a related field.
- Strong hands-on laboratory and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong documentation, communication, and data-analysis skills.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is someone who can work independently in the lab, troubleshoot automated purification workflows, optimize assays, and deliver high-quality experimental data on schedule.
