The ideal candidate is a CA-qualified or CA semi-qualified accounting professional who can work independently, lead and train a small team, and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes through Excel, AI, automation, and ERP tools.

This role offers a clear growth path toward an Accounting Manager position as the team and scope of responsibilities expand.

Main Responsibilities:

Team and Process Ownership

• Independently manage day-to-day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities with minimal supervision.

• Train, guide, and mentor team members on accounting processes, tools, and outstanding items.

• Track pending tasks across the team and ensure timely closure.

• Serve as the primary escalation point for AP and AR issues raised by internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.

Month-End Close

• Own the month-end close calendar and ensure the process is completed accurately and on time.

• Prepare and review journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and amortization schedules.

• Ensure revenue and expenses are recorded in the correct accounting periods.

• Coordinate with AP and AR teams to close all sub-ledgers before finalizing the books.

Reconciliations and Books of Accounts

• Prepare and review monthly balance-sheet reconciliations for all key accounts.

• Investigate and clear reconciling items promptly.

• Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready books of accounts.

• Perform bank reconciliations and coordinate with the treasury team regarding cash positions.

Management Reporting

• Prepare monthly management reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, variance analyses, and KPI dashboards.

• Provide clear commentary on variances against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.

• Support ad hoc reporting requests from company leadership.

Treasury Support

• Assist with cash-flow forecasting and monitoring.

• Support fund transfers, payment approvals, and banking relationships.

• Monitor working capital, including AP and AR ageing, and proactively highlight potential risks.

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Ensure appropriate internal controls are followed throughout AP, AR, and month-end close processes.

• Identify control gaps and recommend or implement process improvements.

• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable statutory requirements.

Audit Support

• Act as a key point of contact for internal and statutory auditors.

• Prepare audit schedules, respond to audit queries, and ensure audit points are resolved on time.

Systems, Excel, and Automation

• Use advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation templates, and dashboards.

• Stay informed about AI and automation trends within accounting.

• Proactively recommend and implement automation for repetitive activities such as reconciliations, reporting, and invoice processing.

• Work with accounting and ERP platforms such as Tally, Zoho Books, Quick Books, Net Suite, or SAP.

Skills and Competencies Required:

• CA Qualified or CA Semi-Qualified, with Inter CA cleared.

• At least 3 years of core accounting experience, including exposure to AP, AR, and month-end close.

• Strong attention to detail and an ownership mindset.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Previous experience supervising, training, or mentoring junior team members.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Interest in or experience with AI tools and automation for accounting workflows.

• Working knowledge of internal controls and audit processes.

• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to coordinate effectively with finance teams, other departments, vendors, customers, and auditors.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with ERP systems, accounting automation tools, or robotic process automation for finance processes.

• Exposure to treasury and cash-management activities.

• Experience preparing MIS and management reports for leadership review.

Ready to take ownership of a growing accounting function and help shape smarter, more efficient finance processes? We would love to hear from you.
