About the Role

Build a Sporting Culture from the Ground Up: Play a foundational role in shaping sports, fitness, and recreation at a new-age university, from facility planning to the first inter-university season. Ownership Across the Sports Spectrum: Lead coaching coordination, events, facilities, and student engagement in one integrated role. Collaborative Culture: Work closely with Student Life, HR, Operations, and student sports committees to build a vibrant, active campus. Professional Growth: Opportunity to design sports programmes, represent the University at inter-university platforms, and grow with the institution.

Responsibilities

Sports Programmes & Coaching Plan, organise, and oversee regular coaching sessions and practice schedules across individual and team sports offered on campus. Identify, onboard, and coordinate with external coaches, trainers, and instructors for various sports, fitness, and wellness sessions. Track student participation and performance, and design programmes that cater to both competitive athletes and recreational players.

Facilities & Equipment Management Oversee the upkeep, safety, and scheduling of sports facilities, courts, grounds, and the gymnasium. Maintain inventory of sports equipment and kits, and manage timely procurement, repair, and replacement. Coordinate with Operations and vendors on facility maintenance, safety audits, and upgrades.

Sports Events, Tournaments & Inter-University Participation Plan and execute the University's annual sports fest, intramural leagues, and other on-campus sporting events. Coordinate participation in inter-university tournaments and leagues, including team selection, travel, and logistics. Liaise with sports bodies, affiliated associations, and other institutions on fixtures, registrations, and compliance requirements.

Student Engagement, Clubs & Wellness Work closely with the Office of Student Life to plan and deliver sports-related activities, events, and initiatives on campus. Support and mentor student-led sports clubs and committees, fostering ownership and leadership among student-athletes. Design initiatives that encourage broad-based student participation in sports, fitness, and recreational activities, including for beginners. Work with the Student Life and Wellness teams to integrate sports into the University's holistic development and wellbeing agenda.

Administration & Compliance Maintain accurate records of sports budgets, expenses, event reports, and student participation data. Ensure adherence to safety protocols, injury-reporting procedures, and relevant sports governance requirements. Prepare periodic reports and updates on sports activities, facility usage, and outcomes for University leadership.

Budgeting & Vendor Management Assist in preparing and monitoring the annual sports budget, including equipment, events, and coaching costs. Manage relationships with vendors, kit suppliers, and service providers, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. Support fundraising or sponsorship efforts for sports events and infrastructure, where applicable.

Qualifications

Education Graduate degree in any discipline is required; a degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports Management, or a related field is desirable. Graduation is not mandatory for candidates with experience as a sports trainer/instructor in the Armed Forces or Police. Relevant coaching or sports administration certification (e.g., NIS or equivalent) will be an added advantage.

Experience 3–6 years of experience in sports administration, coordination, or coaching, ideally within a university, school, or sports organisation. Experience organising inter-university or inter-school tournaments and managing student athletes is preferred.

Required Skills Sound knowledge of rules, formats, and standards across common sports disciplines. Experience with facility scheduling, equipment management, and vendor coordination. Familiarity with inter-university sports bodies, affiliations, and compliance processes. Proficiency in MS Excel, Power Point, and Word.

Preferred Skills Strong ownership mindset with the ability to work independently in a build-from-scratch environment. Natural leader who can mentor, motivate, and build rapport with students and coaches alike. Well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple events and priorities simultaneously. Flexible and available for weekend and evening commitments during tournaments and sports events. Physically fit, with the stamina to actively participate in and demonstrate sporting activities. A genuine personal inclination towards one or more sports. Alignment with the University's mission and values.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation will be competitive and benchmarked to industry and sector norms commensurate with experience and qualifications.
