Senior Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support a founder-owned specialty food importer and distributor. This role is based onsite in Edison, NJ, five days per week. The Senior Accountant will oversee daily accounting operations and help maintain accurate inventory and cost controls, financial reporting, reconciliations, compliance filings, and accounting records. This role will work closely with company leadership and an outside accounting firm and is well suited for a detail-oriented professional who values accuracy, accountability, collaboration, and ownership.

What You’ll DoManage daily and month-end accounting activities, including general ledger accountingOversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processesPerform bank and credit card reconciliations and support payroll activitiesMaintain accurate inventory and cost controls for imported goodsTrack and evaluate landed costs and reconcile accounting records to warehouse inventoryCompile financial data and prepare supporting reports for the company’s outside accounting firmMaintain accurate and organized accounting recordsSupport compliance with applicable financial regulations and standard tax filings
What We’re Looking ForBachelor’s degree in Accounting1–3 years of accounting experienceExperience with cost accounting and inventory controlProficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Office applicationsStrong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to plan, prioritize, and take ownership of day-to-day accounting responsibilitiesAbility to work onsite in Edison, NJ five days per week
Nice to HaveExperience within food importing, distribution, or a related industryFamiliarity with landed-cost accounting for imported inventoryExperience working in a founder-owned or closely held business environment
Work Environment: This position is primarily sedentary with occasional movement throughout the facility, including reaching, bending, and moving light equipment or supplies. The role may require entering warehouse and repack areas and wearing required food-safety and OSHA protective equipment. xzbcwsv The facility processes nuts, grains, dried fruits, and chocolate, and employees may be exposed to these ingredients.
