Electrical Estimator - High-End Residential Location: West Palm Beach, FL Workplace Type: Onsite Job Type: Full-Time Industry: Electrical Construction | Luxury Residential Construction Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a proven background in high-end luxury residential construction to join our growing team in West Palm Beach, Florida. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented estimating professional who enjoys working on custom luxury homes and delivering accurate, competitive bids for complex electrical systems. The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing complete cost estimates for custom residential electrical projects by reviewing construction documents, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, developing labor and material budgets, and coordinating closely with project managers, vendors, and clients. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of residential electrical systems, luxury home construction, lighting controls, generators, service installations, and NEC requirements, along with hands-on experience using the McCormick Estimating System . This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously while maintaining the highest level of accuracy and professionalism. Key Responsibilities Electrical Estimating Prepare accurate, competitive, and comprehensive electrical estimates for high-end custom residential projects. Analyze project specifications, construction drawings, and bid documents to determine complete project scope. Develop complete labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor cost estimates. Produce detailed bid proposals that align with company standards and client expectations. Ensure all estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines. Construction Document Review Review and interpret: Architectural drawings Electrical plans Lighting layouts Low-voltage systems Panel schedules One-line diagrams Site plans Specifications Addenda Bid documents Owner requirements Engineering drawings Identify discrepancies, omissions, and scope conflicts before bid submission. Quantity Takeoffs Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs. Calculate conduit, wire, devices, fixtures, switchgear, panelboards, feeders, branch circuits, and equipment quantities. Verify material quantities against construction drawings. Develop accurate labor hours for installation activities. Utilize digital takeoff software where applicable. Cost Estimating Prepare estimates for: Electrical service installations Custom home wiring Lighting systems Lighting controls Smart home systems Generator systems Transfer switches Electrical panels Distribution equipment Branch circuits Specialty electrical systems Low-voltage infrastructure Develop accurate: Material costs Labor costs Equipment costs Vendor pricing Installation budgets Total project costs McCormick Estimating System Utilize the McCormick Estimating System to prepare complete project estimates. Maintain estimating databases. Update labor units and pricing. Generate reports and bid summaries. Maintain historical project cost information. Vendor & Supplier Coordination Solicit competitive quotations from suppliers. Build strong vendor relationships. Negotiate material pricing. Review vendor proposals. Evaluate alternative products. Maintain current pricing databases. Value Engineering Identify opportunities for cost savings. Recommend alternate materials where appropriate. Evaluate design alternatives. Analyze constructability. Recommend value engineering solutions while maintaining project quality. Project Coordination Coordinate with Project Managers during preconstruction. Participate in project turnover meetings. Clarify project scope before construction begins. Support estimating questions during project execution. Assist with budgeting and forecasting. Client & Pre-Bid Meetings Attend pre-bid meetings. Participate in project walkthroughs. Conduct site visits. Meet with homeowners, builders, architects, and designers. Provide technical estimating support during bid reviews. Cost Tracking & Historical Data Maintain estimating files. Update historical project costs. Track labor productivity. Monitor material cost trends. Maintain estimating documentation for future projects. Continuous Improvement Stay current with NEC code changes. Monitor industry pricing trends. Improve estimating processes. Support departmental best practices. Participate in estimating software updates and training. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of electrical estimating experience within the construction industry. Extensive experience estimating high-end custom residential electrical projects . Proficiency with the McCormick Estimating System (required). Strong understanding of luxury residential electrical construction. Experience reviewing architectural and electrical construction documents. Strong knowledge of residential electrical systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Preferred Qualifications Previous field experience in residential electrical construction. Journeyman Electrician or Master Electrician background. Experience using Bluebeam Revu or similar digital takeoff software. Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code). Experience working with luxury home builders. Experience coordinating with architects, engineers, and interior designers. Experience estimating custom home electrical systems. Understanding of lighting control systems and generator installations.
