Build a Safer Future Through Field LeadershipWe are seeking an experienced, hands-on Corporate Safety Director with a strong background in industrial construction, skilled trades, and field safety leadership. The ideal candidate has direct industrial craft experience and has progressed through the ranks of the industry, transitioning from a craft or field position into safety roles with increasing responsibility, such as Safety Field Technician, Safety Manager, and ultimately senior safety leadership. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Corporate Safety Director will lead companywide safety initiatives while remaining actively engaged in the field. This individual will establish consistent safety standards, coach field personnel, support project execution, investigate incidents, and partner with operational leadership to strengthen safety performance across the organization.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience and BackgroundProgressive industrial field experience, ideally beginning in a skilled trade, industrial craft, or hands-on field operations role before transitioning into safety.Demonstrated career progression into positions such as Safety Field Technician, Safety Specialist, Safety Supervisor, Safety Manager, or other increasingly responsible safety leadership roles.A minimum of 10 years of progressive safety experience, preferably within industrial construction, specialty contracting, heavy industrial maintenance, or similar environments.Strong understanding of industrial construction methods, field operations, craft activities, and jobsite hazard controls.Experience supporting or overseeing multiple projects and working directly with craft personnel, foremen, superintendents, project managers, and operations leadership.Demonstrated ability to visit project sites regularly, evaluate active work, and develop an in-depth understanding of each project's scope and safety requirements.Experience developing safety programs, conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and driving corrective actions.A proven ability to influence field behavior, build trust with craft professionals, and hold personnel accountable for safe work practices.
Preferred Industrial Craft ExperienceExperience in one or more of the following trades or disciplines is strongly preferred:Electrical construction and industrial electrical work.Instrumentation and controls.Pipefitting, piping installation, and welding.Structural steel erection, ironworking, and structural welding.Rigging, lifting operations, and material handling.Millwright work, equipment installation, alignment, and industrial maintenance.
EducationBachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Equivalent combinations of formal education, industrial craft experience, and progressive safety leadership experience may be considered.
Preferred CertificationsCertified Safety Professional (CSP).Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST).Associate Safety Professional (ASP).OSHA 500 Trainer.Additional trade-specific safety training, industrial safety credentials, or instructor qualifications are a plus.
