Job Description

Position: Sr. Manager – Human Resources (Steel Manufacturing Industry) Location: Kolkata Experience: 12–15 Years Prior experience in the steel manufacturing industry is mandatory. About the Role: We are seeking an experienced and strategic HR leader to head the Human Resources function. The role is responsible for developing and driving enterprise-wide HR strategies, policies, and people initiatives across multiple manufacturing plants. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the manufacturing sector. Prior experience in handling multiple locations will be preferred. Key Responsibilities: HR Strategy & Business Partnership Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's business objectives and long-term growth plans. Lead HR initiatives that enhance productivity, employee engagement, organizational capability, and culture. Act as a strategic advisor to business leaders on all people-related matters. HR Policy Development & Governance Design, review, and implement HR policies, SOPs, and governance frameworks across all manufacturing units. Standardize HR processes and ensure consistent implementation across locations. Ensure compliance with labour laws, statutory regulations, and organizational policies. HR Governance & Plant HR Oversight Provide strategic direction and functional leadership to Plant HR Managers across all manufacturing locations. Establish HR standards, monitor policy implementation, and ensure consistency in HR practices across plants. Review workforce metrics, employee engagement, and HR performance across locations and drive corrective actions where required. Collaborate with Plant HR teams to address workforce challenges while maintaining alignment with corporate HR strategy. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Lead the organization's recruitment strategy for corporate and plant-level hiring requirements. Partner with business and Plant HR teams to identify manpower needs and ensure timely hiring of critical talent. Develop talent pipelines and strengthen employer branding initiatives. Workforce & Employee Relations Guide Plant HR teams in maintaining positive employee relations and resolving workforce issues. Provide strategic oversight on disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and industrial relations. Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives across the organization. Talent Management & Performance Lead performance management, competency development, and leadership development initiatives. Identify organizational capability gaps and implement learning and development programs. Build succession plans for key positions and strengthen the leadership pipeline. Compensation, Benefits & HR Analytics Provide strategic inputs on compensation structures, benefits, rewards, and recognition programs. Monitor HR metrics and workforce analytics to support data-driven decision-making. Present HR dashboards and insights to senior leadership for business planning. Desired Candidate Profile: 12–15 years of progressive HR experience, with significant exposure to the manufacturing industry. Prior experience in steel manufacturing industry is mandatory. Strong expertise in HR strategy, policy formulation, organizational development, and workforce planning. Strong understanding of labour laws, statutory compliance, industrial relations, and HR governance. Ability to drive change, influence senior leadership, and build scalable HR practices.
