Job Description
Salary: $41,600 - 52,000 per year Requirements:
- 1–3 or more years of experience in IT support, help desk, or another hands-on technical role
- Comfort using a Linux terminal, including SSH, basic shell commands, and reading logs
- Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPNs, and proxy operation
- Hardware troubleshooting experience with PCs, USB devices, phones, and routers
- Clear, professional written communication for customer support conducted primarily through chat
- Strong organization and attention to detail when tracking inventory, serial numbers, and shipments
- Ability to work on-site in Houston from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Central Time, including Saturdays and Sundays
- Ability to lift and pack equipment boxes weighing up to 50 pounds
- Preferred: Experience with cellular modems, LTE/5G routers, or carrier and APN configuration
- Preferred: Android ADB experience
- Preferred: Knowledge of proxies, mobile proxies, or IP rotation
- Preferred: Experience using Telegram, shipping logistics, or UPS/FedEx business accounts
- Preferred: Bilingual ability in English and another language
- Respond promptly to customer proxy support messages on Telegram, addressing connection, IP rotation, speed, setup, and account questions
- Diagnose proxy connectivity issues and determine whether they stem from customer setups, proxy ports, devices, carriers, or host servers
- Use internal dashboards and monitoring tools to check port status, rotate or reset proxies, and escalate unresolved problems
- Communicate clearly and courteously, and document recurring issues to support standardized fixes
- Prepare Android phones for proxy use by configuring them through ADB and USB, installing apps, verifying SIM cards, and labeling and inventorying devices
- Configure and test Sierra Wireless EM7455 LTE modems, including firmware, carrier settings, Linux compatibility, and installation in host machines or USB enclosures
- Set up ZTE and Exigo D50 LTE/5G routers, including admin settings, band locking, APN and carrier configuration, firmware updates, and signal and speed checks
- Bench-test devices for connectivity, IP rotation, speed, and stability, and record device and assignment details in inventory
- Pack, label, book, and track expedited or overnight shipments of new and replacement equipment
- Coordinate with remote site contacts regarding deliveries, installation timing, power, and network requirements
- Guide remote contacts through physical installation and troubleshooting, then verify devices are online remotely
- Manage hardware returns and RMAs, and track spare equipment at headquarters and remote sites
- Perform basic administration on Ubuntu/Debian Linux hosts, including SSH access, log review, systemd service checks, and USB or device troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot networking issues involving TCP/IP, DNS, NAT, VPN/WireGuard, firewalls, cellular signal, and carriers

We are Depot Computers LLC, operating a fleet of mobile proxy servers built from Android phones, cellular modems, and LTE/5G routers across offices and sites in several U.S. cities. We are hiring a hands-on Linux IT Support technician for our Houston operation. The role combines customer support with hardware preparation and shipping coordination, including getting equipment ready for remote locations and helping site contacts bring it online. It is a W-2 contract-to-hire position for an initial six months, potentially extendable to 12 months, paying $20–$25 per hour based on experience. The schedule is 40 hours per week, 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Central Time, five days a week, with Saturdays and Sundays required and two weekdays off selected based on support volume.
