FULL TIME

Job Description

An established and growing civil engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Civil Engineering Project Manager to its Baton Rouge team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer who wants greater ownership of projects, stronger client exposure, and a clear route into team leadership. You will manage a varied portfolio of civil design projects while working alongside an experienced local team with the technical resources and support needed to deliver high-quality work.

The position offers a genuine balance of technical involvement, project management, client interaction, and team development. It could suit either an established Project Manager or a capable Project Engineer ready to take the next step in their career.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead civil engineering projects from initial planning and design through permitting, bidding, and construction
  • Coordinate multiple projects while managing scope, schedules, budgets, and client expectations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, reviewing agencies, contractors, and project partners
  • Guide and support engineers, designers, technicians, and early-career team members
  • Review civil construction plans, technical calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain strong quality-control standards across project deliverables
  • Coordinate with survey, planning, environmental, and other technical disciplines
  • Monitor project financials, including budgets, invoicing, work in progress, and additional service requirements
  • Identify potential design challenges early and develop practical, commercially responsible solutions
  • Support proposal preparation, project pursuits, and the continued growth of local client relationships
  • Assist with recruiting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing civil engineering team
  • Provide technical support during construction and help resolve field-related issues

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • Professional Engineer licence in Louisiana, or the ability to obtain one through reciprocity
  • Approximately five or more years of civil engineering experience
  • Previous experience delivering civil design projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
  • A strong understanding of project budgets, schedules, contracts, invoicing, and scope management
  • Proficiency with relevant civil design and computer-aided drafting software
  • Experience reviewing construction drawings and implementing QA/QC procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The confidence to build relationships with clients, public agencies, and project stakeholders
  • Previous leadership experience, or clear readiness to step into a more senior role
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and responsiveness

You will be well suited to this opportunity if you are:

  • Commercially aware and comfortable taking ownership of project performance
  • Approachable, collaborative, and confident communicating at every level
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the wider project objectives
  • Proactive when identifying risks, design solutions, and additional service needs
  • Comfortable delegating work and providing constructive feedback
  • Motivated by developing both people and client relationships
  • Capable of working independently while contributing to a highly collaborative team

Why Consider This Opportunity?

  • Visible career progression: Join a growing team where strong performance can lead to expanded leadership responsibilities.
  • Meaningful project ownership: Manage projects from inception through delivery rather than being limited to one stage of the design process.
  • Leadership potential: Mentor junior professionals and help shape the continued development of the local team.
  • Varied responsibilities: Combine technical design, project delivery, client management, and business development.
  • Strong professional support: Work alongside experienced engineers and specialists with access to multidisciplinary resources.
  • Local impact: Deliver projects that support new development, infrastructure improvements, and long-term community growth across Louisiana.
  • Collaborative environment: Become part of a team that values initiative, accountability, technical quality, and professional development.
