Role Description As an Insulation Engineer at Axess Group, you will work on-site in Gujarat, India in a full-time capacity, focusing on the design, specification, and implementation of thermal and acoustic insulation systems for industrial assets. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing project requirements, preparing insulation design calculations and material specifications, and developing installation drawings and technical documentation. You will collaborate with project engineers, construction teams, and suppliers to ensure insulation solutions meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards, and you will support site inspections, quality checks, and troubleshooting during installation and maintenance activities. The role also involves optimizing insulation for energy efficiency and corrosion protection, contributing to HSEQ initiatives, and participating in continuous improvement of engineering processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Technical
Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometric drawings, specifications, and insulation standards.
Select appropriate insulation materials based on operating temperatures, environmental conditions, and project requirements.
Review and approve insulation and cladding drawings, fabrication details, and material specifications.
Ensure compliance with applicable international standards (ASTM, ISO, BS, CINI, NACE, ASME, API, etc.).
Project Management
Plan, organize, and manage insulation projects from initiation through completion.
Prepare project execution plans, schedules, manpower plans, and budgets.
Supervise insulation installation activities on industrial facilities.
Ensure proper installation of hot insulation, cold insulation, cryogenic insulation, acoustic insulation, passive fire protection, and metal cladding systems.
Monitor project progress and ensure milestones are achieved within schedule and budget.
Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC, HSE, and client representatives.
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
Procurement & Commercial
Estimate insulation quantities and prepare material take-offs (MTO).
Review supplier quotations and recommend suitable materials.
Coordinate procurement of insulation and cladding materials.
Monitor material inventory and control project costs.
Support tender preparation and bid evaluations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree /Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, material engineering or a related discipline. Professional certifications in insulation engineering or project management are an advantage.
- 5 + years of experience in industrial insulation, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
- Strong foundation in insulation engineering or mechanical engineering, including thermal analysis, material selection, and industrial insulation system design.
- Experience with industrial projects in oil and gas, petrochemical, LNG, power generation, refineries, chemical plants, or heavy industrial construction, including exposure to piping, equipment, and structural insulation applications.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and codes (e.g., ASTM, ISO, EN) and familiarity with HSEQ practices and risk assessments in engineering environments.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools for calculations, modeling, and drawing review (e.g., Excel, CAD tools, or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications, and translate them into practical insulation solutions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and a focus on quality and reliability.
- Effective communication and teamwork capabilities, including collaboration with multidisciplinary and cross-cultural project teams on-site.
- Willingness to work in field conditions, conduct site inspections, and engage with construction and maintenance teams in Gujarat, India.
- Prior experience in asset integrity, energy efficiency, or insulation-related roles is highly beneficial
