Please double check you have the right level of experience and qualifications by reading the full overview of this opportunity below.
Gurtz Electric is hiring an IT Support Specialist to keep our people productive and our technology running as the company grows. This is a hands-on, practical role: most days are end-user support, workstation and device work, and small-to-mid-size projects you own from start to finish. It is not a deep engineering position, but it is not a ticket-queue job either. We need someone who can take a problem, figure it out, and close it.
Key Responsibilities:
End User Support · Serve as first-line support for employees across our offices and jobsites: password resets, printers, workstations, accounts, mobile devices, peripherals, and general troubleshooting.· Support Windows, Microsoft 365 and Exchange, and the business applications our teams depend on, including Autodesk products, accounting and HR systems, and field tools such as iPads and document-access platforms.· Escalate when a problem is beyond you, but stay on it through resolution either way.
Troubleshooting · Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues.· Work unfamiliar problems on your own first. When you do ask for help, come with what you have already tried and a specific question.· Support the applications; user training on those applications is handled elsewhere.
Project Ownership· Take assigned projects (office expansions, workstation deployments, new-hire setups, customer onboarding, technology rollouts) and drive them to completion.· Plan the work, coordinate with the people involved, and report progress and blockers to management without being chased for updates.· Manage multiple open requests at once without letting service quality slip.
Documentation & Process· Write and maintain SOPs, knowledge-base articles, and technical documentation.· Improve support processes as the company scales, and contribute to automation and AI-assisted documentation efforts.
Infrastructure Support · Assist with Microsoft 365 and Exchange administration, networking, workstation imaging and deployment, mobile device management, and field technology.
Qualifications:
· Experience supporting Windows and Microsoft 365 in a business environment.· Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (DHCP, DNS, Wi-Fi, VPN).· A track record of owning tasks or projects end to end.· Clear, patient communication with non-technical users.· Organized enough to prioritize and track many open items at once.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in construction, engineering, or another multi-site, field-based business.· Exposure to Autodesk products, Intune or another MDM platform, or scripting and automation.
How We Work:
Information Services is a small team supporting a fast-growing company. We give people real ownership and real problems, and we expect them to run with them.We will help. If you are stuck, ask, and someone will work through it with you. But the expectation is that you research first, form your own plan, try it, and come back with results or a specific question, not with the problem handed back. If you need detailed instructions for every task or frequent check-ins to keep moving, this is not the right role. If you want to be trusted to figure things out, it is.
Career Growth:
· Exposure to infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, and enterprise applications, with room to specialize over time.· We promote from within. xzbcwsv As the company expands, this role can grow into senior technical or leadership responsibilities.
