Job Description

Subsurface Modelling Specialist - Oil & Gas

Make sure to read the full description below, and please apply immediately if you are confident you meet all the requirements.
Our Client is a leading organisation operating within the upstream oil and gas industry, specialising in subsurface exploration, development, and reservoir management. Renowned for their innovative approach and commitment to advancing subsurface technology, they offer an inspiring environment characterised by collaboration, growth opportunities, and a focus on industry excellence.
This is a strategic appointment aimed at strengthening their subsurface modelling capabilities. The role is integral to enhancing reservoir understanding, supporting field development decisions, and delivering insights that directly impact operational success. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced professionals eager to make a tangible difference in a dynamic sector.
Role Summary
In response to ongoing project demands, our Client is seeking an expert in 4D (time-lapse) subsurface modelling. As a key contributor within the team, you will lead interpretative workflows, develop integrated models, and collaborate across disciplines to optimise reservoir performance. This position offers the chance to influence critical decision-making processes and remain at the forefront of subsurface technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct detailed 4D seismic interpretation to identify fluid movement, saturation changes, and production zones.
Build and refine comprehensive static and dynamic subsurface models to align geological, geophysical, petrophysical, and engineering data.
Manage and execute seismic inversion and quantitative interpretation workflows, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
Support history matching processes and evaluate uncertainty to enhance reservoir forecasts.
Develop workflows for seismic-to-simulation integration, including data quality checks, calibration, and validation.
Present insights and technical findings to multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Contribute to technical reviews and mentor junior team members, fostering continuous improvement.
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience delivering 4D / time-lapse subsurface projects in an upstream oil & gas environment.
Strong background in reservoir geophysics, geophysics, reservoir modelling, or reservoir engineering with a focus on 4D applications.
Demonstrable experience in integrating seismic, well, petrophysical, and production data.
Solid understanding of reservoir surveillance, development planning, and uncertainty management.
Proficiency in software such as Petrel (preferred), DecisionSpace, or similar tools for seismic interpretation.
Experience with reservoir simulation platforms like ECLIPSE or CMG, including data coupling workflows.
Familiarity with 4D interpretation, modelling tools (e.g., Jason/RMS), and best practices.
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working on offshore assets, particularly within the UKCS or North Sea.
Knowledge of quantitative 4D feasibility, quality control, and production impact assessment.
Familiarity with geostatistics, uncertainty workflows, and subsurface assurance processes.
Working Pattern
Flexible working arrangements are available, including remote, hybrid, or on-site options depending on client requirements. Candidates based in the UK or EU are preferred; however, considerations may be made for other locations with suitable time zone compatibility.
How to Apply
Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their CV, clearly highlighting relevant 4D project experience, familiarity with software toolstack, and availability. xrexnqw This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to pioneering reservoir projects and advance your career within a supportive and innovative environment.
