The team provides routine and emergency care, post-operative support, and rehabilitation services including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and acupuncture. Raintree treats dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, and other species, focusing on individualized care for every animal.

Role Description The Senior Veterinarian is a full-time, on-site role based at Raintree Veterinary Clinic and Rehabilitation Centre in the Pune Division. This role involves performing clinical examinations, diagnosing conditions, and developing treatment plans for a variety of species, including companion animals and large animals. The Senior Veterinarian will conduct surgical procedures, oversee anesthesia and post-operative care, and supervise complex medical cases. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring veterinary and support staff, coordinating with rehabilitation services such as physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, and ensuring high standards of patient safety and client communication. The role also includes maintaining detailed medical records, contributing to clinical protocols, participating in emergency coverage, and supporting continuous improvement in clinical practice.

Qualifications

  • Professional veterinary qualifications, such as a Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc) or equivalent, with valid registration to practice veterinary medicine.
  • At least 2+ years Extensive clinical experience in small animal and multi-species practice, including diagnostics, medical management, and surgical procedures.
  • Strong skills in patient assessment, treatment planning, and evidence-based clinical decision-making.
  • Experience with emergency and critical care, pain management, and post-operative monitoring.
  • Ability to collaborate with rehabilitation teams, including physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and other supportive care services.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including mentoring junior veterinarians and guiding support staff.
  • Clear, empathetic communication skills for client education, counseling, and handling sensitive cases.
  • Commitment to animal welfare, ethical practice, and continuing professional development through courses, workshops, or certifications.
  • Organizational and time-management skills to manage a varied caseload and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Prior experience in a specialty or referral clinic setting, or with multi-species care, is an advantage.
