Job Description
Salary: $40 per hour Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking an Injection RN to use the Nursing Process to assess, plan, intervene and evaluate. Provides injections of depot medications. Monitors for side effects after injections are completed. The work schedule is PRN or ON CALL. The RN will provide monthly medication injections to adults in our outpatient clinic, located within the Our Daily Bread Employment Center (725 Fallsway, Baltimore City). The injections are scheduled every 2-4 weeks and are coordinated through the Villa Maria Fallsway Clinic.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Respects children's and family's rights by recognizing the dignity of each individual and maintaining the confidentiality of all client information.
- Maintains the environment of care by complying with therapeutic standards, risk management policy, and procedures for maintaining client safety.
- Contributes to Performance Improvement at the individual, department, and agency levels.
- Accurately applies knowledge of treatment approaches appropriate to the physical and developmental age of clients served.
- Understands and applies policies and procedures for infection control.
- Attends all required training and in-service courses (CPR, Crisis Intervention, Emergency Procedures, Infection Control, etc.).
- Performs all duties utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Administers depot IM medications and treatments in accordance with evidence-based best practices and team plans. Monitors the outcome of interventions.
- Assists every Family Services Division Program and CC Community Division Head Starts to successfully meet all expectations of auditing bodies as it related to nursing and health services.
- Understands professional capabilities and limitations of practice and consults and / or make appropriate referrals when necessary.
- Assists in ordering, storage, and maintenance of supplies and equipment. Ensures the security of supplies and equipment at all times.
- Documents all work done, all contacts, procedures and lab reports in medical record. Audits charts as needed.
- Demonstrates initiative. Adapts well to change. Evidences a positive 'can do' team spirit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Maryland in good standing.
- Current adult and pediatric CPR certification required, American Heart Association Instructor certification preferred.
- Current valid driver's license with three points or less.
- Able to accurately utilize medical record system.
- Involves risk of exposure to communicable and infectious disease requiring stringent adherence to infection control procedures.
- Requires ability to stand /walk / move equipment or items such as a medical cart.
- Must be able to help evacuate building and keep clients safe.
- Must be resilient, and amenable to change and able to tolerate periods of significant job-related stress.
SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:
- Knowledge of nursing practices including first aid, medication administration protocols, CPR, infection control protocols.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medications.
- Familiarity with health care resources.
- Able to think critically. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to be understood in person and on the phone speaking English. Ability to write well in English.
- Ability to evidence interpersonal skills and to make and sustain positive strength based relationships with clients, staff, and outside agencies. Ability to use computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions.
- Able to provide safe and effective depot injections, including deep intramuscular injection.
