Prequalification Engineer (Civil Engineer VI)

This Prequalification Engineer position in the Illinois Department of Transportation oversees contractor prequalification, develops and implements prequalification policies, administers subcontractor databases, and manages the Contractor Performance Evaluation System. The role supports the Office of Highways and Intermodal Project Implementation and ensures compliance with departmental policies and Federal Highway Administration requirements.

Key qualifications:

• Current registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer or Licensed Structural Engineer in Illinois
• Six years of experience in civil engineering
• Ability to manage and supervise staff
• Ability to develop and maintain cooperative relationships with contractors and the public
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Requires valid driver's license and willingness to travel statewide
