ROLE SUMMARY

The Group Financial Controller is a senior, full-time remote role responsible for the complete accounting, financial reporting, and financial control of an international trading group headquartered in Hong Kong, with sister entities in Nigeria and Dubai. The role holder takes full ownership of the Hong Kong entity's books, produces consolidated group reporting across all three jurisdictions, and provides structured oversight and review of local accountants in Nigeria and Dubai.

This is a high-trust, high-visibility position reporting directly to the Managing Director. The successful candidate will be the financial backbone of the group - ensuring clean books, timely reporting, rigorous controls, and full compliance across all three countries.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Full Accounting - Hong Kong Entity

Maintain complete, accurate books of accounts for the Hong Kong entity

Record all purchase invoices, sales invoices, expenses, and journal entries

Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts

Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers

Track inventory movements and ensure accurate COGS calculations

Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, and provisions

Maintain and enforce the group's unified chart of accounts

Maintain and reconcile intercompany balances between HK, Nigeria and Dubai; document intercompany pricing in line with transfer pricing requirements

2. Group Consolidated Reporting

Prepare a complete monthly reporting pack covering all three entities, including:

Consolidated Group Profit & Loss Statement with intercompany eliminations

Consolidated Group Balance Sheet

Consolidated Group Cash Flow Statement

Entity-level P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow for Hong Kong, Nigeria and Dubai

Aged Receivables & Payables - group and entity level

Inventory movement report

Bank reconciliation summaries

Management commentary: variance analysis, budget vs actual, notable items and risks

Financial KPI dashboard for the Managing Director (working capital, gross margin, debtor days, cash position, FX exposure summary)

3. Budgeting, Forecasting & Management Information

Lead the annual group budget process, coordinating inputs from all three entities

Prepare and maintain rolling 12-month financial forecasts, updated monthly

Produce budget vs actual variance analysis with written commentary for the MD

Monitor working capital and provide proactive cash flow forecasts

Track and report foreign currency exposures across HKD, USD, NGN and AED; revalue foreign currency balances at month end and flag material FX risks

4. Financial Control & Internal Controls

Design, implement and maintain the group's internal controls framework across all entities

Define and enforce authorisation limits, approval workflows and segregation of duties

Implement and oversee month-end and year-end closing procedures

Identify accounting errors, discrepancies and control weaknesses; propose and track corrective actions

Ensure consistent application of IFRS and group accounting policies across all entities

5. Treasury & Cash Management

Monitor daily cash positions across all group bank accounts

Manage intercompany funding flows between entities

Prepare short and medium-term cash flow forecasts to support working capital decisions

Oversee FX revaluation of foreign currency balances and translation adjustments in consolidated accounts

6. Compliance, Tax & Audit

Own the group compliance calendar; ensure all statutory filings, tax returns and regulatory deadlines are met across Hong Kong, Nigeria and Dubai

Coordinate with local accounting firms in each jurisdiction for profits tax (HK), corporate income tax and VAT (Nigeria), and corporate tax and VAT (UAE)

Support and manage annual statutory audits in all three countries; prepare all schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation

Maintain complete, organised audit trails and financial records in accordance with local requirements

Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable local accounting standards, with support from local firms where required

7. Coordination with Local Accountants

Provide day-to-day guidance and monthly review of the local accountants in Nigeria and Dubai

Review Nigeria and Dubai monthly packs against group standards; identify and resolve inconsistencies

Liaise with the Hong Kong auditor and provide all required data and supporting documents

Act as the central point of financial coordination across all three jurisdictions

8. Systems & Process Management

Work within the group's cloud-based accounting system (Tally) and maintain clean, structured records

Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities (invoice capture, bank feeds, reconciliation tools)

Maintain digital filing systems and document management discipline across all entities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Technical Qualifications

Professional accounting qualification strongly required: CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce

7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or group-level role

Demonstrated experience with multi-entity and consolidated accounting

Strong knowledge of IFRS and its practical application in a trading environment

Experience in trading, import-export, or commodity businesses strongly preferred

Solid understanding of inventory accounting and COGS in a trading context

Experience with multi-currency accounting and FX translation

Proficiency in Tally is essential; familiarity with other cloud accounting platforms is an advantage

WORKING CONDITIONS

Full-time remote role, India-based

Monday to Friday, with working hours that overlap with Nigeria (WAT, UTC+1) and Hong Kong (HKT, UTC+8)

Direct reporting line to the Managing Director

Close collaboration with local accountants in Nigeria and Dubai and the Hong Kong auditor
