A growing, entrepreneurial specialty automotive company is seeking a Controller to join its leadership team and report directly to the CFO. This is a highly hands-on opportunity for a strong technical accounting professional who enjoys taking ownership, building processes, and making an immediate impact within a growing organization.

The company operates across both vehicle customization/upfitting and e-commerce, creating a dynamic environment with a mix of operational and consumer-facing business activities.The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting function, lead the month-end and year-end close, ensure accurate financial reporting, and strengthen accounting processes and internal controls. This person will also manage a small accounting team and partner closely with operations, purchasing, and senior leadership.
Key ResponsibilitiesOversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, treasury, AP, AR, and inventory accountingOwn the monthly and annual close process, including accruals and journal entriesPrepare and publish financial statements and lender reporting packagesEnsure compliance with GAAP and maintain strong accounting policies and internal controlsManage sales tax compliance, filings, and auditsOversee inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsCoordinate physical inventory counts and ensure inventory reporting accuracyLead external audits and serve as the primary contact for auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutionsLead, mentor, and develop a team of two accounting professionalsIdentify and implement process improvements across the accounting functionPartner cross-functionally with operations, purchasing, and leadership to support business objectives
Ideal BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field10+ years of progressive accounting experiencePrior supervisory or management experienceStrong technical accounting and GAAP knowledgeProven experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and complex journal entriesStrong inventory accounting experience is requiredExperience with raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsExperience managing sales tax compliance and external auditsStrong month-end/year-end close experience xzbcwsv Hands-on leadership style with a willingness to work at both the strategic and detailed levelsStrong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skillsQuickBooks experience required; ERP experience is a plusNetSuite, Shopify, Amazon, or automotive/shop management system experience is a plusCPA and/or public accounting experience preferred
