What is Unit Head Digital & Branchless Banking Risk - MMBL?

• To drive Mobilink Bank’s digital and branchless banking risk strategy by ensuring effective identification, monitoring, and mitigation of emerging risks. The role oversees digital risk management, regulatory compliance, and high-risk digital operations.

Responsibilities

• Support in implementing the bank’s risk framework and strategy within agreed timeframes, ensuring effective identification, assessment, monitoring, control, and reporting of digital and branchless banking risks.
• Supervise and lead risk reviews of branchless and digital banking operations to identify associated risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Review existing and new policies, products, procedures, SOPs, and other relevant documents, including outsourcing arrangements.
• Foster a culture of partnership, collaboration, and transparency with product teams and other functions; serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for control obligations.
• Provide leadership support for the end-to-end execution of Control and Risk Evaluations.
• Assess risk models and methodologies to ensure accuracy, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Monitor credit risk exposures and portfolio performance to identify trends, patterns, and potential risks; develop and implement mitigation strategies accordingly.
• Identify and mitigate emerging risks, especially related to core banking system, portfolio exposure fraud patterns, access controls etc.
• Ensure compliance with SBP digital lending guidelines, consumer protection principles, and fair lending policies, Branchless banking regulations, Enterprise Technology Governance Framework etc.
• Develop and monitor key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to ensure the escalation of significant risk issues to appropriate management levels and its mitigation.
• Conducting/formulating RSCA/Risk Register in coordination with the process owners and devising action plans to mitigate the risks.
• Lead internal audits and inspections for digital and branchless banking risk.
• Conduct awareness/training sessions to promote risk culture/awareness.

Qualifications & Experience

• In-depth knowledge of risks associated with digital financial services, branchless banking, mobile banking, and fintech solutions.
• Ability to compile, analyze, and interpret risk data; develop actionable insights; and produce comprehensive risk reports and dashboards for senior management.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to articulate risk findings and provide clear, effective risk advice.
• Excellent analytical skills to assess complex risk scenarios, identify root causes, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, industry best practices, and compliance requirements related to digital and branchless banking.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
• Educational Qualifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; or equivalent professional qualifications such as ACCA or Partly qualified CA.
• Experience
• Minimum 6-8 years of relevant experience
