The OpportunityBCI is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer, Principal in Charge to join its Cincinnati, Ohio team.
This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity for someone who understands civil design but is ready to own much more than the technical work.
The Principal in Charge will bring together engineering judgment, project management, team leadership, and client partnership, overseeing civil projects while helping develop the people responsible for delivering them.
You'll lead a team of approximately six individual contributors and provide the technical and project leadership necessary to keep work on track. While you should understand AutoCAD and Civil 3D and be comfortable reviewing engineering plans, this position does not require you to spend your day working in CAD.
What You'll DoLead civil engineering projects and provide Principal-in-Charge oversightManage and mentor approximately six engineering professionalsProvide senior technical direction throughout project planning, design, and executionReview civil engineering plans, drawings, and technical deliverablesManage project priorities, schedules, scope, and executionWork directly with clients and project stakeholdersGuide design decisions and help teams solve complex project challengesReview and interpret work produced using AutoCAD and Civil 3DHelp maintain high standards for technical quality and project deliveryParticipate in project meetings, industry conferences, and client meetingsTravel approximately 25% as project needs require, including occasional overnight travelSupport the continued growth of BCI's civil engineering presence and capabilities
What We're Looking ForRequiredApproximately 10+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with consideration given to exceptional candidates with 8+ yearsActive Professional Engineer (PE) licenseAbility to obtain Ohio PE licensure through reciprocity if not currently licensed in OhioStrong civil design foundationDemonstrated project management experienceExperience managing, developing, or mentoring engineering professionalsKnowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3DAbility to review and understand CAD/Civil 3D plans without needing to be a daily production userStrong communication and client-facing skillsAbility to travel as business and project needs require
PreferredActive Ohio PE licenseWater resources engineering experienceExperience overseeing complex civil/site development projectsExperience functioning as a Principal in Charge, senior project leader, or equivalent engineering leader

CompensationBase Salary: $165,000-$175,000+
BCI is open around compensation depending on experience and overall fit.An annual bonus tied to company performance has also been part of the compensation structure, and there may be additional growth opportunities as the successful candidate progresses within the organization.
