Job Description

Ensora Health is the leading provider of software and services for mental and behavioral health therapists, trusted by over 200,000 individual providers and more than 28,000 practices. Our unmatched expertise, partnership, and breadth of products allow us to fine-tune solutions that meet the specific needs of everyone from solo practitioners to larger practices. With AI-enabled solutions that span practice management to electronic medical records and e-prescribing to billing, we help eliminate administrative complexity and create harmony between therapists, their clients, and the whole healthcare community. Ensora Health builds software that helps therapists and clinicians run successful practices, and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help shape how we build it. You’ll bring deep PHP and object-oriented expertise, plus fresh ideas for using AI to change how our team designs, writes, tests, and ships code.
We want someone who looks at how we work with PHP today, says “here’s a better way,” and then proves it. You’ll lead technical projects, work directly with leadership to define requirements, and raise the bar for the engineers around you. Lead the design, build, and deployment of features and services using object-oriented principles and modern PHP practices.
Challenge our current PHP patterns, tooling, and workflows, and champion improvements that make our code faster to ship, easier to maintain, and more secure.
Explore and prototype new ways to use AI in our development lifecycle, such as AI-assisted code generation, refactoring, test creation, code review, and root-cause analysis. Evaluate AI-assisted tools and set guidelines for using them responsibly, with human review, strong testing, and security standards.
Work with leadership and product partners to define software requirements and translate business needs into sound technical plans.
Take the lead on operational and technical projects, from scoping and estimation through delivery.
Diagnose and resolve complex bugs and performance issues, using logs, metrics, and traces to find root causes.
Drive automated testing, including unit and integration tests, and improve coverage across the codebase.
Apply secure coding practices and address common web and application security risks before they become problems.
Keep technical documentation clear and current, using AI tools to help.
6+ years of professional software development experience in an object-oriented language, with deep PHP expertise.
~ A track record of improving how a team builds software, not only what it builds.
~ Hands-on experience using AI tools for coding, debugging, testing, or documentation, and sound judgment about when to trust their output and when not to.
~ Experience working in a Linux-based development environment.
~ Proficiency with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS3.
~ Solid experience with relational databases and SQL/MySQL.
~ A demonstrated commitment to code quality, testing, and maintainable design.
~ Experience building AI-powered features or integrating LLM APIs into PHP applications.
Experience creating repeatable AI workflows for your team, such as shared prompts, test generation, or automated review.
Exposure to AWS or other cloud platforms.
Experience in healthcare or other regulated software environments.
While we've outlined some key qualities we typically seek, it's essential to remember that there might be additional unique strengths and talents you possess that would make you an exceptional match for us, even if they're not explicitly mentioned. Studies have consistently highlighted the significance of this principle, particularly for individuals from disenfranchised backgrounds, including women and other marginalized groups. These individuals often hesitate to apply unless they meet every single requirement, unlike their male counterparts who are more inclined to apply when they meet around 60% of the criteria.
All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
At En sora Health , Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging aren’t just words. We celebrate what makes us unique, foster an ecosystem of inclusion for all and harness our talents to promote diversity of thought and action in everything we do.
We instill Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging into the fabric of our CARING culture and business, as we strive to be recognized not only as the leader in healthcare technology, but also for our intentional efforts to promote a diverse community.
We will champion non-discriminatory practices throughout the employee and customer lifecycle; caring for every person regardless of race, national origin, color, religion, disability, sex, orientation, or familial status.
