Head of Business Analysis
SRMB Steel · Kolkata, India
Job Description
Location: Corporate Headquarters, Kolkata
Reporting to: President & Chief Sales & Marketing Officer
Function: Business Analyst | Business Intelligence | MIS
SRMB Group is seeking an accomplished Business Analytics and MIS leader to create a single, trusted commercial view across our national sales organization.
SRMB is a 75+ year-old, Kolkata-headquartered steel and construction materials group with a turnover exceeding ₹2,500 crore, more than 3,000 employees, a strong manufacturing base in Eastern India, and an extensive dealer and distributor network.
As SRMB prepares for its next phase of growth, we are strengthening data-led commercial governance, technology adoption and management decision-making. This is a high-impact leadership role working closely with the President & CSMO and senior business leadership.
THE MANDATE
The GM – Business Analytics & MIS will lead the consolidation, governance and analysis of Sales and Marketing information across retail TMT, structural steel, project and institutional businesses.
The individual will integrate primary and secondary sales, dispatch, collections, inventory, dealer, product, market, scheme and sales-funnel data into reliable dashboards and decision-ready insights.
This is not merely a report-generation role. We are looking for someone who can convert complex commercial data into clear business actions, challenge inconsistent numbers and build reporting discipline across a large, multi-zone sales organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish a single source of truth for Sales and Marketing data, KPIs and management reporting.
• Own the daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sales MIS calendar across dispatch, sales achievement, collections, inventory, dealer and SKU performance, schemes, market share and pipeline.
• Reconcile information across ERP, CRM, SFA, DMS, Finance, dispatch and other business systems, ensuring accuracy and traceability.
• Build and govern Power BI and advanced Excel dashboards with drill-downs, alerts, exception reporting and clear action ownership.
• Generate actionable insights on growth, volume, price–mix, contribution, dealer health, channel productivity, territory whitespace, customer retention, competitive movement and market opportunities.
• Support annual and quarterly target setting across zones, territories, channels, dealers, sales personnel and product categories.
• Strengthen sales forecasting and S&OP through analysis of historical trends, order pipelines, seasonality, channel inventory, dispatch capacity and market intelligence.
• Evaluate dealer and distributor performance, scheme effectiveness, sales-funnel conversion, collection risks and working-capital indicators.
• Improve adoption and data discipline across CRM, SFA, DMS and related sales-technology platforms.
• Prepare decision-oriented reviews and executive insight packs for the President & CSMO and senior leadership.
• Establish SOPs, reporting controls, review mechanisms, action trackers and escalation protocols.
• Automate repetitive reporting, eliminate parallel or ungoverned trackers and develop a prioritised commercial analytics roadmap.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
• 10–15 years of relevant experience in Sales MIS, business intelligence, commercial analytics, sales planning or a related function. Exceptional candidates with 8+ years of substantial independent ownership may also be considered.
• Strong preference for experience in steel, cement, building materials, industrial products or another B2B business operating through a large dealer/distributor and multi-zone network.
• MBA/PGDM in Marketing, Finance, Operations or Business Analytics preferred. Strong candidates with backgrounds in Engineering, Statistics, Economics or Commerce may also be considered.
• Advanced hands-on capability in Excel, including Power Query and Power Pivot, and strong proficiency in Power BI or Tableau.
• Working knowledge of SQL, data modelling and dashboard architecture.
• Experience working with SAP.
• Strong understanding of sales funnels, price–volume–mix, P&L drivers, channel economics, scheme ROI, working capital and sales productivity.
• Demonstrated ability to establish data governance, KPI definitions, reporting calendars and review discipline across multiple functions.
• Strong executive communication, analytical storytelling and stakeholder-management capabilities.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will combine analytical depth with commercial judgment. They should be comfortable identifying inconsistencies, constructively challenging senior stakeholders and translating data into clear recommendations.
High integrity, discretion, attention to detail, speed, ownership and the ability to operate calmly under urgent leadership requirements are essential.
This is a full-time, on-site position at SRMB’s Corporate Headquarters in Kolkata and may require business travel.
Salary - Up to 25,00,000.
